We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a Electrical Engineering Manager to join our High Speed IO Connectorsteam located in Etters, PA. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Electrical Engineering Manager will help lead the high speedI/O connector assembly design team and drive significant engineering impact in state-of-the-art datacenter, cloud, 5G, storage, enterprise I/O applications, with digital communication technologies and data rates currently charted up to 224Gbps/lane. POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking experienced mechanical engineers to join Amphenol Cable Backplane Product Development team. This role will focus on Precision Engineering and serve a pivotal role on the team, blending expert knowledge from electrical and mechanical engineering to develop, design, and maintain the mechanisms on our next generation of high speed cable backplanes. This role will design float mechanisms, cartridges, and similar mechanisms that enable our cabled backplanes to solve our customer’s needs. This role also requires interaction with internal manufacturing sites, external vendors, and all of the other engineering disciplines within the organization. A strong candidate should be motivated by technical challenges, know how to be a truly collaborative member of a team, and be willing to wear a number of hats throughout the many phases of a project. RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand and adapt to evolving industry needs and product requirements. Collaborate with NPI and Machine Design teams to ensure efficient, high-volume production of high-quality products. Work with the Signal Integrity team to support electrical performance requirements through mechanical design. Ensure mechanical design meets high reliability and quality standards over the product's life, adhering to industry and internal specifications. Attend industry trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences as needed. Qualifications: BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) or equivalent experience in the electronics industry, with an emphasis on precision engineering preferred. 3+ years of experience in CAD software (Creo). 3+ years of industry experience in design. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of collaboration and execution in product design stages. Good understanding of GD\&T methodologies, tolerance analysis, and FEA tools. RESPONSIBILITIES: As the Reliability Engineering Manager you will drive product robustness, ensure compliance with customer and industry standards, and lead cross-functional efforts to predict, detect, and eliminate product failure risks across the product lifecycle. Guide team on developing test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of cable and connector assemblies that factor in customer use and application requirements Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of engineering tasks of engineers within the group as well as technicians in the lab Oversee and mentor engineering team; providing needed training and working with team members to grow within the organization Coordinating with peers and other engineering managers within the organization to share best practices and continuous improvement activities Lead the development, planning, and execution of reliability test plans for new product introduction and engineering changes. Define product qualification strategies aligned with application requirements and customer expectations. Drive failure mode analysis (FMEA), DfR (Design for Reliability), and HALT/HASS methods to assess and improve product robustness. Establish reliability metrics (FIT, DPPM, MTBF, escape rate projections) and track performance across the product portfolio. Collaborate closely with Design, Test Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to address reliability risks early in the design phase. Oversee execution of environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, humidity, etc.). Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with reliability expectations and qualification requirements. Lead and manage root cause analysis of returned/failed units and implement corrective/preventive actions. Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for a team of reliability engineers and technicians. Prepare and present technical reports to internal and external stakeholders, including customers. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in reliability or product engineering, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or team lead role. Knowledge of reliability prediction models and field return data analysis.
