General Counsel (Office based)

Office Based - London, UKFrom $39/yr

<p>We are hiring a&nbsp;<strong>General Counsel</strong>, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role leads Canonical’s global Legal and Compliance function.</p> <p>This is a unique opportunity for an <strong>exceptional and commercially-minded senior lawyer</strong> to lead the legal and compliance function of a profitable, fast-growing technology company that is privately held with the intention to list on a public exchange. We’re looking for someone with genuine fluency in the software industry and in open source dynamics, who can translate that insight into clear positions on licensing, commercial contracts and risk, and hands-on execution.</p> <p>Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will <strong>own Canonical's legal, regulatory and governance posture</strong> and lead a distributed team across EMEA and the Americas. Your primary challenge will be to continue building both the team and the architecture: a management layer across two regions, and the governance, contracting and controls a public company needs, in an environment that regularly does things the industry has not done before. You will work closely with our product and engineering teams on licensing and IP questions, with the security function on customer assurance, and you will advise the Board and its committees directly.</p> <p>In our selection process, we <strong>prioritize intellect and judgement</strong> alongside depth of practice. We are looking for someone with a strong academic background, an active licence to practice, and demonstrable exposure to a multilayered global operational environment.</p> <p><strong><em>Location: </em></strong><em>This role will be based in our office in London, UK.</em></p> <h3><strong>The role entails</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Leading the global Legal and Compliance function: setting it's structure, standards and priorities across EMEA and the Americas.</li> <li>Building and managing a management capability: hire and develop managers, set objectives, review performance against a clear bar, and address under-performance directly.</li> <li>Setting the operating cadence of the function: intake and prioritization of legal work, service expectations with internal clients, and reporting on workload and risk to the leadership team.</li> <li>Owning public-market readiness on the legal side: corporate governance, group and entity structure, delegated authority, policies, disclosure controls and records, in partnership with Finance.</li> <li>Advising the CEO, COO, CFO and the Board, and supporting in Board and committee meetings.</li> <li>Owning the commercial contracting framework: standard templates, negotiating positions, and a deviation and escalation process that makes commitments visible before they are signed.</li> <li>Leading intellectual property and open source licensing strategy, including copyleft, trademark and the terms on which Ubuntu and our products are distributed.</li> <li>Owning the global compliance programme: data protection and privacy, export controls and trade compliance, anti-bribery and corruption, competition and AI regulation.</li> <li>Managing litigation, disputes and regulatory engagement, together with the external counsel panel, its budget and its quality.</li> <li>Advising on M&amp;A, partnerships, strategic alliances and financing as the company grows.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What we are looking for in you</strong></h3> <ul> <li>An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.</li> <li>A degree in law, or equivalent, and an active licence to practice in an EMEA or Americas jurisdiction.</li> <li>Substantial senior in-house experience in a global technology or software business.</li> <li>Proven experience leading a distributed legal team, including managing managers across regions and time zones.</li> <li>A track record of setting and holding a high performance bar: hiring well, developing people, and dealing with under performance directly rather than waiting it out.</li> <li>Experience building or restructuring an in-house legal function, including deciding what is retained, delegated and sent to external counsel.</li> <li>Technology related experience of: <ul> <li>negotiating and owning commercial technology contracts, including enterprise software and subscriptions, channel and reseller agreements, hardware manufacturer agreements, cloud and services</li> <li>advising on open source licensing, including permissive and copyleft licences, and familiarity with how open source communities operate.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Experience of, or demonstrable readiness for, public company governance: listing preparation, board and committee support, disclosure and controls.</li> <li>Depth in at least two of: data protection and privacy, IP and trademark, export controls and trade, competition, or disputes.</li> <li>Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, hold colleagues accountable, and share ideas without hesitation.</li> <li>Professional written and spoken English with excellent drafting and presentation skills.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.</li> <li>International travel two to four times a year for company events up to two weeks long.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Nice-to-have skills</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience taking a company through an IPO, or practicing as counsel inside a listed company.</li> <li>A technical or engineering background, or fluency in how software is built and shipped.</li> <li>Experience of a subscription or recurring-revenue business model.</li> <li>Experience building or restructuring an in-house legal function.</li> <li>A qualification in more than one jurisdiction.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What we offer colleagues</strong></h3> <p>We consider geographical location, experience, and performance in shaping compensation worldwide. We revisit compensation annually (and more often for graduates and associates) to ensure we recognize outstanding performance. Product Manager

Oxford, England, UKFrom $10/yr

At ONI, we are driven by a profound mission: to propel scientific discovery and combat diseases by granting everyone the ability to visualize, comprehend, and share the intricate microscopic details of life. Our revolutionary Nanoimager and Aplo Platform stand at the forefront of advancing cellular studies on a molecular level, making substantial contributions to the evolution of scientific knowledge. We’re looking for a Product Manager to own our kits and workflows, including EV Profiler and LNP Profiler, now that the concept is proven. You’ll make sure sample preparation, fluid handling, imaging, analysis and reporting software work together as one system, and your responsibility is the complete customer experience, from sample to scientifically meaningful result. The job is making that system rock solid: hardening what’s already on the market, making sure it works the same way at every site, and getting more customers on it without support load growing at the same rate. The Role As part of the Product team, you’ll own the product management of our kits and end-to-end workflows, including the Discovery Kit, EV Profiler and LNP Profiler and their future revisions. You will ensure these work together with automated sample preparation and fluid handling, imaging, analysis and reporting software to deliver reliable, reproducible and intuitive solutions for our customers. The initial products have launched, and the work now is making them dependable, repeatable, and scalable for our customers. You’ll create clarity and momentum for the R\&D teams by understanding which problems matter, turning customer and market evidence into priorities, and removing barriers to delivering a coherent solution. You’ll grow adoption to routine use across many sites, including bioprocessing and QC settings where results must be reproducible and defensible, and you’ll work with Marketing on positioning and the product story as the portfolio evolves. You will play a critical role in bringing these quality improvements to the market and ensuring that current and future kits maintain their quality over time, and you’ll help define the roadmap for next iterations of existing and future kits and workflows. As a product manager, you’ll be the connective tissue between software, hardware, bioware, support, and the field, acting as the voice of the customer to help internal teams better understand our customers’ needs and problems. The role is ideal for a technically curious, commercially aware individual who loves getting hands-on with products, takes ownership of outcomes and thrives on complex, cross-functional challenges. You will work broadly across our platform and alongside US colleagues; the position is based in Oxford and involves occasional travel to customers and our US team (typically 10-20%). What you’ll do * Understand scientists and their complete workflows first-hand. Work with customers and field teams, study usage and support data, and synthesize their sometimes conflicting inputs into the problems worth solving. * Drive evidence-led product direction and priorities across our solutions with R\&D and commercial leaders, balancing customer outcomes, differentiation, adoption, reliability, margin and technical feasibility. * Own the roadmap for our kits (including the Discovery Kit and the EV and LNP Profiler kits) and workflows, balancing quality, reliability, usability and new features. * Identify and prioritize the right customer and market problems, document them as clear market requirements, product performance requirements and user stories, and give development teams the context they need to design the best end-to-end solution—from sample preparation in Aplo Flow, through acquisition in Aplo Scope, to analysis in CODI. * Own validation for each kit and workflow: define acceptance criteria, performance specifications and validation plans, including reference samples and reproducibility across instruments, operators and sites. Work with R\&D, who own development and verification. * Become a hands-on power user of the full integrated workflows, from the manual and automated sample preparation of kits, imaging, analysis and reporting, identifying points of friction in the overall user experience. * Drive coherence across our end-to-end solutions, ensuring kits, reagents, lab automation, instruments and software evolve together rather than as disconnected products. Champion reproducibility, usability and reliable results across the complete workflow. * Connect R\&D, operations, quality, service, field applications, sales, marketing and customers. Establish feedback loops, clear ownership and effective cross-team decisions across our teams in the US and the UK. * Own pricing and packaging for our kits and workflows, balancing customer value, competitiveness and margin targets. * Work with Marketing throughout a product's life to shape positioning, the value proposition and the product story as the portfolio evolves, not only at launch. * Lead launch and release planning with R\&D and Marketing: set readiness criteria, make go/no-go decisions, and coordinate documentation, release notes and training for each launch or revision. * Create and run webinars and internal training for the field application and sales teams on new products and revisions, and keep an accurate record of what each kit, instrument and software version can deliver. * Track post-launch performance, including adoption, kit reorders, time to first result, reproducibility, support burden, customer feedback and commercial results, and use it to set priorities. * Help investigate and reproduce difficult issues, equip support and field teams with workarounds and guidance, and bring well-evidenced problems to developers. Analyze tickets, logs and customer feedback to find recurring failure modes, and prioritize root-cause fixes into the roadmap. * Work with Quality and Operations on manufacturing transfer, life cycle support and end of life, so our kits and workflows maintain quality over time. * Maintain broad portfolio knowledge across all of ONI’s products and use cases, while maintaining primary focus on our integrated workflows. What you’ll bring * A life-science background, ideally EVs, LNPs, nanoparticle characterization, imaging or biophysics. Being able to speak the language of our customers is critical. An MSc/PhD or equivalent hands-on experience is a real plus. * Fluency across software, instruments, laboratory workflows and multidisciplinary R\&D; comfortable investigating issues hands-on and understanding how the system fits together. * Experience working with empowered, cross-functional development teams: knowing when to provide context, decide on a trade-off and leave the solution to specialists. * Product management (or product owner) experience in life-science tools or instrumentation, ideally taking something from first release to a scaled, supported product. * Experience planning and running launches with Marketing, R\&D and the field, from development through adoption. * Commercial and pricing judgement: You can weigh customer value, competitiveness and margin when setting price and packaging. * A quality mindset: You’re comfortable writing acceptance criteria and test plans, and you think about risk, reproducibility and traceability. Exposure to a quality system (ISO 9001 or 13485) is a plus. * Comfort with data: logs, tickets, precision and method-comparison numbers (CVs, site to site). Evidence sets priorities, not the loudest voice. * The ability to lead across software, hardware, bioware, support and field without owning any of them, and to prioritize when everything feels urgent. * Clear writing and organization skills. Requirements, release notes and docs that other people can act on. Nice to have * Super-resolution or single-molecule imaging experience (dSTORM, PALM, DNA-PAINT), or general microscopy experience (TIRF, widefield, confocal, spinning-disk). * Hands-on EV or LNP work in research, biopharma, gene therapy or drug delivery. * Laboratory automation, automated liquid handling, sample preparation, consumable kits, workflow integration, scientific software or data analysis. * Integrating instruments, software, consumables and automated lab workflows; exposure to verification, validation, quality systems or lifecycle support. * Commercialization, pricing, segmentation, product positioning or product marketing in technically sophisticated markets. At ONI, we understand that a fulfilling career involves more than just challenging work - it's about enjoying a well-rounded experience. When you become a part of our team, you not only contribute to groundbreaking research but also enjoy a range of benefits designed to enhance your life both inside and outside the workplace. Design Engineer, Product (Senior/Staff) (d/f/m)

Munich, Bavaria, GermanyFrom $500/yr

Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one? This role requires 2 days per week in the office and is based in Munich/Berlin/London. As a Design Engineer at Personio, you will sit at the intersection of design craft and technical execution, bridging the gap between how we imagine our product and how it gets built. You will be a key force in elevating the quality, consistency, and velocity of our product experiences, working as part of our Design Infrastructure team, while also working across product teams on highest-priority initiatives. You will build the UI components, infrastructure and systems that empowers designers to work closer to code with consistency, contribute to high-priority product experiences that touch every customer, and help create AI-powered tooling that automates repetitive front-end work. As an early member of a newly-formalized discipline at Personio, you will help define what great Design Engineering looks like — and set the bar for those who follow. What You'll Do * Steward and improve the design system by building and maintaining high-quality, accessible, and performant components and patterns that are used consistently across Personio’s product surfaces. * Uplevel cohesion in the product by spotting gaps in consistency across the product, connecting disparate projects, and building reusable patterns and frameworks that scale. * Contribute to high-priority product features by embedding with product teams to deliver UX features and systems that benefit a wide reach of customers. * Collaborate across disciplines — maintaining a close relationship with both design and engineering to stay aligned on platform priorities, developer experience, and the evolving standards that govern design–engineering handoff. * Contribute to our Product \& Technology culture by bringing technical perspective into design conversations, and design perspective to engineering, mentoring designers on front-end concepts, and helping the org think more fluently about code and design together. * Build AI-powered design tooling and workflows that move designers closer to code through high fidelity prototyping and live production edits. * Help define and evolve the Design Engineering discipline at Personio — contributing to career expectations, playbooks, and processes as this practice matures. What You Need To Succeed * Technical proficiency in front-end development (React, Typescript, CSS) combined with strong UX sensibility and product instincts. Should have familiarity with NextJs, monorepos, UI testing, performance considerations and accessibility. Preference for experience with Vercel, Microfrontends and Motion. * Hands-on experience with design systems, including building and scaling component libraries, tokens, and patterns adopted by multiple teams. * Comfort with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude), and a track record of using these to accelerate design-to-code workflows. Preference for familiarity of the Claude ecosystem and agentic development workflows. * Experience creating reusable frameworks, tooling, or processes that improve how design and engineering teams work together and that are adopted beyond their original context. * Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions — working fluidly with designers, product managers, and engineers, and communicating at the intersection of both disciplines. * An eye for craft and consistency, with the drive to proactively identify quality gaps and take initiative to address them across the product. * Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the self-direction to define your own scope, navigate undefined spaces, and bring clarity to cross-functional challenges. * AI Fluency: You have hands-on experience using AI to improve your workflow, and the sound judgment to know exactly when to rely on it and when to step in yourself. Why Personio Personio is an equal opportunities employer, committed to building an integrative culture where everyone feels welcomed and supported. We embrace uniqueness and understand that our diverse, values-driven culture makes us stronger. We are proud to have an inclusive workplace environment that will foster your development no matter your gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, education level, or race. At Personio, we value in-person collaboration while also offering flexibility. This role is office-based, with 2 days per week required in your contracted office location. Mechanical Engineer (Early Career, Exceptional Talent)

Englewood, COFrom $102,000/yr

Fuel and lube systems. Structural hardware. Component testing. Assembly processes built from scratch. At Boom, you'll own some of the hardest mechanical engineering challenges and real hardware — on day one of your career. We hire a small number of early-career engineers and give them a level of ownership that most companies reserve for people with a decade of experience. You won't be supporting someone else's design or waiting your turn. You'll be the engineer of record on systems that matter, making real decisions, and seeing your work turn into hardware. We're building two engines at once: Superpower, a 42 MW gas turbine for AI data centers, and Symphony, a medium-bypass turbofan designed for Mach 1.7 cruise. That means designing mechanical systems that can withstand extreme temperatures, demanding operating conditions, and rapid iteration cycles. There isn't a playbook for what we're building. You'll help create it. This job is demanding and rewarding. This job isn't for everyone. You're the right person if: * You've already done something real — built hardware, led a competition team (Formula SAE, Baja, Rocketry, Robotics), or taken on engineering work in an internship that went well beyond what most early-career engineers get to touch. * You're genuinely excited by complex mechanical systems and love following a problem from whiteboard to hardware. * You'd rather own something and figure it out than wait for a perfect set of instructions. * CAD, analysis, the machine shop, and the test cell are where you want to spend your time. * You care about doing the work well — not just finishing it. What You'll Do * Own parts of mechanical subsystems — fuel, lube, cooling, and other balance-of-plant systems — from initial concept through analysis, drawing release, and integration into the full engine system. * Design components and assemblies that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and testability, making real engineering tradeoffs on hardware that actually gets built. * Plan and support assembly processes, working closely with manufacturing engineers on the floor to make sure your designs can be built, assembled, and serviced. * Design and run component and system-level tests — instrument the hardware, collect data, interpret results, and use what you learn to make better engineering decisions faster. * Collaborate across propulsion, electrical, and manufacturing teams to make sure your subsystems integrate cleanly with the rest of the engine. You Probably Have * A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on hardware experience. * At least one internship or co-op where you designed, analyzed, or built real-world mechanical systems. * Hands-on CAD and analysis experience – proficiency with standard 3D CAD modeling (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) and structural/thermal FEA tools. * A rock-solid grasp of core mechanical engineering fundamentals – statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, machine design, and fluid mechanics/thermodynamics. * A track record of finishing hard things, inside school and outside of it. Engineers who want to spend their first year doing work that actually matters should apply. What is it REALLY like to work at Boom? Find out here . Work Location Internships require 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters located at 6803 S Tucson Way, Centennial, CO 80112. Compensation The Base Salary Range for this position is $102,000 - $128,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include long-term incentives/equity, a flexible PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits. Additional perks include on-site meals and gym access. ITAR Requirement To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be eligible to access export-controlled information and technology as required by applicable U.S. export control laws . Learn more about ITAR here. Boom is an equal opportunity employer, including for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans. We are building a culture of merit and excellence. Want to build a faster future?
