What the score measures

Most job postings have a short list of real requirements buried in a long description. The score tells you how clearly your CV proves those requirements, for this one job.

  • Must-haves (the biggest part). JobFu reads the posting and pulls out its must-have requirements, weighted by how strongly the posting stresses each one. Your CV is graded A to F on each, and a grade needs a real line from your CV as evidence.
  • Fit with the role. Whether your experience as a whole lines up with the kind of role and seniority the posting describes.
  • How the CV reads. Content quality, quantified impact, structure that applicant tracking systems can parse, and tone.
  • Nice-to-haves. A small bonus when the posting lists optional skills and your CV shows them.

The AI only gives letter grades. The number is calculated from those grades with a fixed formula, so the same grades always give the same score.

How to use it

  1. Paste your CV as text, or upload it as a PDF, DOCX or TXT file.
  2. Paste the full job description, or a link to a public job page.
  3. Read the must-haves you are missing. Those are where the points are.
  4. Make the top fix, but only with experience you really have. Then score again to compare.
  5. Share your score with the link, or sign up free to see every fix and tailor your CV in JobFu.

Frequently asked questions

What does the CV score measure?

It measures how well your CV shows what this specific job asks for. JobFu first reads the job description and pulls out its must-have requirements, each weighted by how much the posting stresses it. It then grades your CV against each one from A (clearly shown with evidence) to F (not there), and grades the CV as a whole for content, quantified impact, structure and tone. The 0 to 100 score is calculated from those grades with fixed weights, with the must-haves counting most.

Is this the same scoring JobFu uses inside the app?

Yes. The free checker runs the same two-step rubric and the same score formula as the CV check in the JobFu editor. The free version uses a faster model and shows the headline result; the editor adds every fix and suggested bullet rewrites you can apply in place.

Is my CV stored?

No. Your CV and the job text are used to calculate the score and are not saved. To make a share link work, JobFu keeps only the score, the job title and the company name. Your IP address is turned into a one-way hash for the daily limit and is never stored as is.

Is it free? Is there a limit?

It is free and needs no account. To keep it free for everyone there is a limit of 3 checks per day per visitor, plus an overall daily limit. If you need more, a free JobFu account lets you keep scoring your CV against jobs inside the app.

What score should I aim for?

Use it to compare versions of your CV for the same job. 80 or above means your CV clearly shows most of what the posting asks for. Between 60 and 79 usually means a few must-haves are missing or only implied. Below 60 means the CV does not yet make the case for this role. Do not add skills you do not have; the fixes are meant to surface experience you already have but have not written down.

Can I use a job link instead of pasting the description?

Yes, paste the link to a public job page and JobFu will try to read it. Some sites block automated reading; if that happens, copy the description and paste it instead.
