About the Role We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Wastewater to support the delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. The role will be focused on the technical delivery of projects, covering planning, design, procurement, and construction support. The position will primarily support UK Water Utility projects, working closely with project teams, clients, and Tier 1 Contractors. There may be opportunities to contribute to Irish and international projects in the future, depending on business needs and individual interest. Key Duties and Responsibilities Deliver wastewater engineering projects from concept through construction and commissioning, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. Prepare and coordinate feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, and value engineering for wastewater networks, pump stations, and treatment works. Prepare, review, and manage technical reports, drawings, specifications, and design calculations. Liaise with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to support design development and equipment selection. Support tendering, procurement, and contract administration activities, including technical input to evaluations. Monitor and manage project budgets, variations, and change control for assigned projects or work packages. Identify and manage technical and delivery risks, contributing to effective risk mitigation strategies. Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with specifications and design intent. Support digital delivery of solutions, including BIM and 3D models, and where required, 4D and 5D outputs. Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. Work collaboratively with project managers, clients, contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery. Undertake additional duties as required to support project delivery and reflect the evolving needs of the business. Key Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. 7+ years’ experience in wastewater engineering, including feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, and construction contract administration for wastewater infrastructure projects. Proven experience delivering wastewater engineering projects of varying scale and complexity, within Design \& Build and/or client-facing environments. Experience working on UK Water Utility projects is desirable but not essential. Strong technical knowledge of wastewater engineering principles, applicable standards, regulations, and industry best practice, with proficiency in relevant analysis and design software. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet project milestones, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. * Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
