Frontend Engineer

CandisBerlin, Berlin, Germanyhybrid

You thrive when there is a real problem in front of you, a codebase that keeps evolving and a team that expects you to dig in rather than wait to be told what to do. We are looking for a Frontend Engineer who is ready to own features end-to-end and is genuinely excited by what modern tooling and AI-augmented workflows can unlock. Our Tech Stack: Typescript, React, Vite, Cypress, GraphQL, Node. Why do we need this role? Candis is growing and so is our Frontend ambition. We are investing in more Engineering power across our product teams, and this role is part of that. More Frontend capacity means more features shipped, more domains covered and more room for our Engineers to drive the Frontend chapter forward. We are looking for someone who can come in, contribute, and grow with us. What makes this role exciting? You will join team Achilles, one of the most active product teams at Candis right now, working predominantly on brand new features. The tech stack is modern and deliberately kept that way. If you spot something ageing out, you can raise it, propose the upgrade and lead it yourself with no one blocking you because of a preference for stability over progress. Candis genuinely believes in engineer agency: if you see a repeated problem across the codebase, bring it to the Frontend Chapter and propose a fix, with no one telling you, no. Growth also makes this role exciting. We are not a company where career progression happens by waiting in a queue. Your team lead will run structured, regular one-on-ones focused on your competency growth and what it takes to reach the next level. What are the biggest challenges? Things can change at Candis, and they can change fast. The way a component looks or works can be revised multiple times in a single quarter as product and design sharpen the vision, so you need to be the kind of person who finds that energising rather than exhausting. There is also a level of cross-team coordination that takes active effort: multiple squads often work on closely related domains simultaneously, and the responsibility for syncing sits partly with you. Spotting that another team is touching shared ground and proactively reaching out to align is expected, not exceptional. On the technical side, some legacy test infrastructure has accumulated tech debt and will need to be reworked as part of ongoing modernisation, meaning you will occasionally need to navigate imperfect foundations on your way to shipping clean work. What would be achieved over 6 months? haben? In the first 30 days: Complete company onboarding, merge your first pull requests, and start building familiarity with the Achilles codebase and domain. By 60 days: Attend Frontend Chapter meetings regularly, have shipped at least one meaningful feature, and be able to work across two full delivery cycles. By 90 days: Operate with little to no supervision on most tasks, use AI tooling to offload repetitive work such as routine bug fixes, and be a recognisable cross-team collaborator. By month six: Have been the driving force behind at least one shipped feature, contribute actively to Frontend Chapter discussions and be on a clear trajectory toward a senior competency level. What equips you best for the role? Based in Berlin: We work on a hybrid or onsite working model. React and TypeScript as your daily stack, not just on your CV. You have shipped production features, you know your way around hooks and component patterns and you write code others can read and extend. Solid, practical experience with complex form workflows using libraries such as react-hook-form. Forms are central to the Candis product and you will be working with them from day one. Modern CSS fluency. You reach for Grid, Flexbox, container queries and custom properties naturally. You stay current with modern CSS features like :has(), nesting and anchor positioning. An active AI-augmented workflow. You use Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools as a genuine productivity multiplier, not as a fallback when you are stuck. At least three years of solid, verifiable Frontend experience. Strong, articulate communication. You explain your thinking clearly in code reviews, standups and cross-team threads. Vagueness is not your default. Bonus points if you have the following Exposure to GraphQL. Experience in a fintech, SaaS, or B2B product environment. Familiarity with testing infrastructure and a view on what good tests look like. German language skills. A track record of contributing to frontend guild or chapter-level discussions. Don’t worry about formalities. We care about you and your motivation – not the font size of your CV. We know that perfect candidates don’t exist, so even if not all of this applies to you, we’d love to learn more about you! Feel free to contact us via e-mail, give us a call, drop by the office, or send a pigeon our way. We’re looking forward to hearing from you! :) About Candis: We are a fintech scale-up working in an area ripe for disruption: accounting and bookkeeping. Candis helps companies regain control over their accounts payable process (think: collecting invoices, data entry, pre-account assignment, and payments). By providing a well-designed and intuitive app, we strive to make working lives better–not just for accountants, but for every employee. We empower finance teams with software to generate financial insights that support decision-making and help businesses scale… all while making a meaningful sustainable impact by reducing paper waste.

About Wolt At Wolt, we create technology that brings joy, simplicity and earnings to the neighborhoods of the world. In 2014 we started with delivery of restaurant food. Now we’re building the delivery of (almost) everything and you’ll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe. Working at Wolt isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely exciting. Here you’ll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You’ll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you’re a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life. Wolt is looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our Web Tooling team. The team sits within the DoorDash Developer Platform group and is responsible for the foundation that hundreds of engineers across Wolt, DoorDash and Deliveroo rely on to build internal operations tools. Our platform hosts 200+ micro-frontends (MFEs) used to operate every part of the business. About The Team Our team is focused on building a scalable, reliable, and high-quality internal tooling platform that supports Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo’s operations and business. The team plays an important role in improving how engineers build, test, and ship software across the organization with a strong emphasis on reusable libraries, micro-frontend architecture and harness engineering for AI coding agents that enable teams to move faster while maintaining high quality. Right now, we are focused on unifying our frontend platforms, evolving shared components and library development, improving developer productivity, and enabling teams to deliver more independently through better architecture and tooling. It’s an exciting time to join because the team has strong ownership and a broad technical impact. About The Role We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer who can take ownership of complex technical initiatives across both frontend and sometimes backend domains. In this role, you’ll work primarily with TypeScript, React, Node.js, CI/CD pipelines, and MFE architecture to build scalable, maintainable solutions that support multiple product teams and business areas. Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical owner who consistently delivers reliable solutions, and helps the team execute more effectively. Six months into the role, we’d expect you to be independently leading technical initiatives and contributing meaningfully to architecture and delivery planning. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems with visible impact across the business. It’s especially exciting for someone who enjoys combining product engineering with platform thinking, improving developer workflows, and building systems that scale across teams and domains. What you’ll be doing Owning the Foundation: the runtime, build, deployment and developer experience that 200+ MFEs and hundreds of engineers depend on every day. Evolving Our Micro-Frontend Architecture: improve composition, isolation, and shared dependency strategies so feature teams can move fast. Product and Planning: Independently drive projects from idea to production: breaking down ambiguous problems into clear technical plans, estimating delivery, identifying risks early, and delivering high-quality solutions in a timely manner. Supporting Engineering Excellence: champion best practices, raise the bar for code quality, and turn lessons learned into platform improvements. AI Fluency: Use AI coding tools to increase engineering productivity and quality, while applying strong judgment and review. Long-Term Thinking: balance short-term feature unblockers with the long-term health, security, and maintainability of the platform. 📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki or Berlin . Read more about our hybrid setup here. Feel free to check out the Wolt Tech Blog for more insight into our culture and technology. Our humble expectations Must haves Proven expertise in building production frontend applications using TypeScript and React. Solid backend knowledge, comfortable owning and operating Node.js services that support frontend infrastructure. Strong knowledge of frontend build tools, bundlers, and module systems, and the ability to evolve them as the platform grows. Track record of diagnosing and resolving complex performance, reliability, or DX issues in large frontend codebases. Experience driving technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, platform-mindset approach to working with feature teams. Strong documentation skills, including experience writing RFCs or ADRs. Nice to haves Experience with micro-frontends architecture. Frontend platform engineering experience. Experience building shared component libraries used by many product teams. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure for frontend workloads. Experience or interest in observability and reliability (SRE). What’s In It For You Impact: Build and shape the platform that thousands of people depend on. Scale: Work on real platform problems behind 200+ MFEs with hundreds of monthly contributors. Collaboration: Partner with talented engineers, designers, and operators across companies to make their daily work faster and better. Now we're building the delivery of (almost) everything and you'll find us in over 500 cities in 30 countries around the world. In 2022 we joined forces with DoorDash and together we keep on dreaming big and expanding across the globe. Working at Wolt isn't always easy, but it's definitely exciting. Here you'll learn more, build more, and ship more than in most other companies. You'll be challenged a lot, but also have a lot of fun on the way. So, if you're a self-starter with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, this could be the ride of your life. About the team Our team is focused on building a scalable, reliable, and high-quality internal tooling platform that supports Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo's operations and business. The team plays an important role in improving how engineers build, test, and ship software across the organization with a strong emphasis on reusable libraries, micro-frontend architecture and harness engineering for AI coding agents that enable teams to move faster while maintaining high quality. Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical owner who consistently delivers reliable solutions, and helps the team execute more effectively. Six months into the role, we'd expect you to be independently leading technical initiatives and contributing meaningfully to architecture and delivery planning. This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems with visible impact across the business. It's especially exciting for someone who enjoys combining product engineering with platform thinking, improving developer workflows, and building systems that scale across teams and domains. AI Fluency: Use AI coding tools to increase engineering productivity and quality, while applying strong judgment and review. Long-Term Thinking : balance short-term feature unblockers with the long-term health, security, and maintainability of the platform. 📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki or Berlin . Read more about our hybrid setup here . What's in it for you Impact: Build and shape the platform that thousands of people depend on. Scale: Work on real platform problems behind 200+ MFEs with hundreds of monthly contributors.

Staff Software Engineer

ClooverBerlin, Berlin, Germanyonsite

From $22/yr

Your role Most energy companies are still running on spreadsheets and phone calls. At Cloover we're building the infrastructure that replaces all of that, and we need engineers who don't just own features but shape the systems beneath them. We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Berlin team: someone who helps set technical direction, raises the bar across the engineering org, and solves the problems that others escalate. You'll report to our CTO and operate across squads. From your first week, your decisions will be shaping systems that reach thousands of installer partners directly. Your mission * Set technical direction and lead complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end: architectural decisions across APIs, infrastructure, and data systems through to production and long-term ownership, bringing other engineers with you. * Identify systemic weaknesses before they become incidents. Design systems that self-monitor, degrade gracefully, and recover fast. Establish the reliability practices that make that the norm across the team. * Own and evolve our backend and frontend systems (Node.js, Next.js, React, TypeScript). Design APIs that are scalable, secure, and easy to build on. * Model, optimise, and operate our PostgreSQL data layer: schema design, indexing, query optimisation, and migrations that ship safely. * Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Terraform, keeping environments consistent, auditable, and built for the scale we're heading toward. * Integrate and harden authentication and authorisation flows on Auth0 (OAuth, SSO, session and token management) across the platform, balancing security with a frictionless user experience. * Champion AI tooling across the engineering team: not just using it yourself, but defining how we build with it. Push the boundaries of what our AI operating system can do. * Mentor junior engineers. Develop technical leads, run architecture reviews, and shape how we hire and evaluate engineering talent. * Collaborate daily with Product, Ops, Finance, and Design, translating ambiguous cross-functional problems into well-scoped, reliably shipped solutions. Your profile We care more about how you think and what you've built than where you've been. Here's what will set you up for success in this role: * 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, operating as a Staff or Senior engineer — leading initiatives, not just executing them. * Deep experience building high-stakes systems where reliability and correctness matter more than raw scale. You know what good looks like when each transaction carries real value. * Strong JavaScript and TypeScript across frontend and backend. Comfortable across the full stack and opinionated about quality. * Cloud infrastructure depth, ideally on Google Cloud Platform, with hands-on Terraform or equivalent IaC practice at production scale. * Strong relational database expertise: schema design, indexing, query optimisation, and performance tuning at scale. * Proven experience building well-designed APIs that others can rely on and build on top of. * Works without waiting to be directed. Takes cross-functional ownership. Moves fast and brings others with them. * Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We're intentionally office-first — decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that's how you thrive, you'll feel at home here. * Fully proficient in English (C2). Nice to have (but not required): * Deep knowledge of auth protocols: OAuth, OpenID Connect, SSO, session management. You've built this, not just consumed it. * German language skills. Don't meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective — credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling. How We Hire We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks. * Intro call (30 min) — We want to understand what you're looking for, not just screen your CV. * Hiring manager interview (45 min) — We go deep: your experience, your technical thinking, how you lead through ambiguity. * Case study (1 hour) — You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach — not whether you land on the right answer. * Offer \& signed contract. Need any adjustments at any stage? Just let us know. Why us? * Performance pay. Strong base, bonus tied to outcomes, and meaningful equity — recognised when it happens, not locked behind annual cycles. * AI-first \& unthrottled. Unlimited enterprise-grade AI — no caps, no approval process. Every role, every team. The grunt work disappears so you can focus on what actually requires human judgement. * Real ownership on a real mission. From day one you're shaping decisions that impact thousands of installers. We're not just building software — we're powering the energy transition across Europe. * Grow faster than anywhere else. You'll work directly alongside the founding team and world-class investors. If you're building toward your own venture one day, there's no better room to be in. * The basics, done well. Prenzlauer Berg office with the latest Apple hardware. Free breakfast and dinner, stocked kitchen, regular team events, 25 days vacation, Urban Sports Club (M), and company discounts. About Us At Cloover, we're building the AI operating system for the energy transition — a platform that helps thousands of installation companies across Germany and Austria sell more, plan faster, and deliver better. We've secured $1.22B in total financing — including $1.2B in committed debt financing and a $22M Series A — and are just getting started on our European expansion. We're a high-performance team that works with purpose. We own our work fully, debate ideas hard, commit together, and execute without hesitation. Seniority doesn't win arguments here — the best idea does. Speed isn't a deadline we hit — it's how we're wired. And we’re AI-native by default. We're not experimenting with AI — we're built on it. Tech ships faster because AI prototypes before we build. Sales closes more because outreach is personalized at scale. Finance stress-tests in real time. People \& Culture builds processes in a fraction of the time. Whatever your function, AI is how we punch above our weight — and it's a skill you'll develop here faster than almost anywhere else. We believe the energy transition belongs to everyone — and so does our team. We're international, driven, and deliberately inclusive. We hire for potential and perspective, and we welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Sound like your kind of challenge? Apply below.
