PRINCIPAL DUTIES \& AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Clinical Duties To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspect of own work, including the management of patients in your care. Communicates sensitive information about routine and complex cardiac investigations to patients and relatives/carers and those with learning and/or physical disabilities. Calibrates and manipulates a wide range of complex, expensive, technical equipment which process, create, update and store information. Performs / provides factual reports on a number of the following investigations on a region-wide range of Cardiac and Medical patients including acutely ill patients and elderly patients and those with a range of physical and learning disabilities: - Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) - 3D/4D Echocardiography - Strain/speckle Echocardiography - Bubble Contrast Echocardiography - Left Ventricular Opacification Echocardiography (LVO) - Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT) - Physiologist Led Stress Testing - Sonographer Led Valve Clinic - Support for Transoesophageal Echocardiography - Support for Interventional Cardiology Reports equipment faults in accordance with departmental policy. Demonstrates personal duty of care for safe use of expensive and highly complex equipment. Is responsible for ensuring that others are fully trained in the safe use of such equipment within their specialist area. Responsible for maintenance of stock levels by ordering from pre-agreed tender schedules and by seeking new resources as service demands change. Responsible for day-to-day security of expensive equipment, e.g., portable ultrasound machines, TOE probes. Professional Responsible for maintaining own technical competencies in clinical areas. Responsible for reporting clinical incidents and adverse events to the Service Manager, e.g., ultrasound probe heating / Datix. Maintain state registration. Responsible for formal mentorship and coordination of training for designated staff in training within own specialist area. Provides highly specialist training on a day-to-day basis for doctors and cardiac physiologists. Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attendance at, and participation in, in-service training programmes, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review. Undertakes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with Personal Development Plan (PDP) as developed with Line Manager. Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings. Maintains and develops current knowledge of evidence-based practice in each clinical area. Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of capital and consumable equipment prior to purchase to ensure the equipment fulfils both service requirements and budget restrictions. Frequently undertakes collection of data for use in audit, research projects and equipment testing. Regularly undertakes clinical trials involving new and emerging technologies. Regularly provides training in Highly Specialist Cardiological techniques to staff members including specialist physiologists and medical staff. Collaborates with the Service Manager towards changes that may impact the wider service provision. Organisational Ability to prioritise and organise the clinical caseload within a designated area of Cardiology. Includes planning and organisation of expected and acute workload and deployment of more junior staff within that area. Accountable for the delivery and day to day management of the delegated area of responsibility within their speciality. Effort Required to exert moderate physical effort. Frequent transferring of patients and equipment on both trolleys and wheelchairs. Prolonged MSK activity whilst performing ultrasound scans. Is forced to deal with confrontation from industry representatives who can be demanding and intrusive. There is a frequent requirement for prolonged periods of concentration. Occasional requirements for both prolonged and highly intense levels of concentration. Frequently interrupted during clinical work to give highly specialist advice to peers, physicians and takes urgent calls from other sources, e.g., staff at other hospitals within the region whom are seeking urgent advice. Exposure to highly distressing situations, e.g., cardiac arrhythmias, anaphylaxis, respiratory and cardiac arrest. To comply with the Trusts manual handling policy at all times. Frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions on a regular daily basis e.g.: bodily fluids including blood, sputum, vomit, urine, fleas and lice. Occasional exposure to highly emotional situation away from own clinical area, e.g., having to perform echocardiography as part of assessment for organ retrieval. This Clinical Oncology Consultant post will be based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW). This post is based at The University Hospital in Coventry (UHCW). The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover for MDTs (videoconferencing is available) and to liaise with the Acute Physicians/Emergency department as part of the supporting the Acute Nurse Led Oncology Service and when on call. The key duties of this post will include driving forward Breast Cancer care in systemic anticancer therapy, and Radiotherapy/Clinical Trials. The Urgent Care CSU functions as one of the more complex units in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the CSU compasses Leeds General Infirmary Emergency Department, Paediatric Emergency Department, St James Hospital Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care service, Acute Medicine services, Remote Monitoring Virtual Ward, Primary Care Access Line and Bed Board services. The CSU employs over 800 WTE members of staffing ranging from medical, nursing, business \& other admin staff and AHPs. The CSU has an expenditure budget of £60 million and income budget of £74 million. Working to uphold The Leeds Way the post holder will: Be accountable for leading and managing the management teams of the CSU, developing and implementing local strategic plans and ensuring achievement of performance objectives. Work with the Triumvirate Team to provide operational business management and planning support across all specialties within the CSU in order that the CSU contributes its part to the Trusts ambition and contributes to the delivery of Trust objectives. Identify performance objectives, develop and operate effective reporting arrangements with the CSU to accurately record and monitor performance against local and national targets and to pro-actively manage any variances, developing action plans and ensuring compliance. Work with the Management Leads and Clinical Leads to rectify any blockages to performance especially where this impacts other CSUs or health care delivery. Planning and strategy Develop challenging service development strategies for / within the CSU. Leads the development of business cases whether for changes to service, new equipment or new posts. Lead the production of the CSUs annual business plan and longer term strategic plan, engaging with Clinical Leads, senior managers and staff, as appropriate. Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which take into account models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans. Ensure that all income required to support delivery of the service is identified and secured. Responsible for ensuring that local and national policies are properly and consistently interpreted and implemented within the CSU. Negotiate Service Level Agreements with external agencies. Work with Service and Business Managers to identify business development opportunities, arising from changes in the internal/external environment or innovation. Work closely with other CSUs/corporate services in the Trust to ensure delivery plans are compatible and to maximise opportunities for more efficient ways of working across the wider organisation. Our rotations are 9 months in duration across BRI and Weston sites, and we offer a wide range of experiences. This includes working in areas such as Musculoskeletal Disorders, Trauma and Orthopaedics, General Medicine \& Respiratory Medicine, Adult Cystic Fibrosis, Home Ventilation Team, Acute Older People’s Therapy (including specialist frailty and front door services), Cardiac Surgery, General Surgery \& Critical Care. Band 6 rotational physiotherapy staff currently have access to acute stroke and stroke early supported discharge rotations. This will include rotations into the regional Hyper-Acute \& Acute Stroke Units at NBT, the regional specialist sub-acute stroke rehab units, and into the specialist Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS). As part of an integrated therapy service, you will report to a Band 7 Occupational Therapy and/or Physiotherapy team lead in your clinical area. In all areas you will be able to access senior Physiotherapy professional support and training and development opportunities. In turn you may also provide support and supervision to less experienced staff, technicians, and students. We are looking for Physiotherapists who are keen to gain senior and specialist clinical experience as a Band 6 within a friendly, forward thinking, and supportive Adult Therapy Service. The successful candidate would be joining a large and dedicated integrated team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Technicians. You must be an effective team player with excellent communication and organisational skills. Depending on the rotation area you will be working as part of a 5-, 6-, or 7-day service. Weekend working is on a 1:4 frequency. As a rotational Physiotherapist you will also contribute to the Sunday working and evening on-call respiratory rota - training will be provided. Specialty Occupational Therapist - (Acute and Emergency Medicine)

Dear Prospective Candidate, This role would be ideal for an individual who is dynamic and enthusiastic with a passion for Acute and Emergency Medicine, and someone who will promote and educate on the importance of early intervention, risk management and safe discharge planning. The Therapy team at the Horton have a key role in managing frailty and the successful candidate will be involved in the assessment, intervention and discharge planning for this cohort of patients. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will screen individuals across Acute and Emergency Medicine, commence holistic assessments using a frailty assessment tool and clinically reason a safe discharge or admittance plan with a focus on early intervention and a Home First pathway. You will join an already well respected team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants who work within Frailty, General Medicine and Trauma at the Horton. There will be an expectation to support the wider team not only clinically, but also from a learning, teaching and supervisory perspective. Within these fast-paced area, there will be the expectation to assess the needs of individuals attending the department with a promotion of early intervention, Frailty specific assessments and discharge planning. Alongside this, support for the wider team will be required, depending on service priorities. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team including the undertaking of joint assessments, liaising with families and places of residence and providing follow-up treatment and handover plans to inpatient or community teams. Support from senior members of the team will be provided and education, training and development will be promoted. Main Duties and responsibilities Communication To be able to communicate your recommendations and clinical reasoning in a timely and concise manner. To formulate and deliver comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation and discharge plans, based on clinical skills and evidence-based practice. To evaluate patient progress on inpatient wards against agreed treatment goals and be able to modify plans accordingly. To determine a patient’s mental capacity to understand and to gain informed consent for treatment. To work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent and are deprived of their liberty. To maintain accurate written records using an electronic patient record system and maintain fidelity to professional standards. To determine and mitigate for risk of patient and staff harm using the agreed risk assessment frameworks and the Trust’s manual handling policy. To demonstrate physical ability to carry out Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling. To represent Occupational Therapy and/or individual patients at multi disciplinary team meetings, to ensure delivery of co-ordinated care. To contribute to the provision of a seven-day service. Leadership and management To be responsible for the competent use and maintenance of rehabilitation equipment and support others in the effective and safe use of this equipment. To assist in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of junior staff and assistants. To undertake delegated tasks and roles from the team lead and be able to deputise for them on occasions. To effectively plan and organise own time, patient caseload, meetings, training and be able to adjust plans as required according to staffing levels and unpredictable factors. To assist in the planning of junior staff, students and assistant timetables and deputise for senior staff in organisational duties. Education and training To organise and contribute to the team’s training and education programme. To contribute to the education of multidisciplinary groups, patients, families and carers as appropriate. To be responsible for individual undergraduate student supervision and practice-based learning. To adopt a proactive approach in learning from others within, and outside of the Occupational Therapy profession.
