Everforth ECS is seeking a Software Engineerto work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award. The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts. The Software Engineer designs, develops, and sustains the application logic, service integrations, and automation capabilities that power WDP Core Integration mission systems across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS, contributing directly to the continuous agile delivery of data-driven tools and operational platforms that support warfighter decision-making at scale. This role operates at the center of WDP's DevSecOps software factory, owning multiple feature streams per sprint while collaborating closely with platform engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and system architects to deliver secure, compliant, and operationally reliable software. Develops software components supporting War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration mission systems by implementing application logic, service integrations, and automation features across development, test, integration, staging, and production environments operating on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS. Writes modular, maintainable code using Python, Java, JavaScript, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes to expand analytics tools, workflow services, and operational platforms. Leads standard feature implementation, converts senior-level designs into detailed component specifications, and validates technical feasibility across mission workflows. Writes production-grade services, data pipelines, user-interface components, and extended Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code modules that reinforce consistent provisioning behaviors and reduce configuration drift. Maintains pipelines for owned services, updates automated test suites, and resolves pipeline failures affecting delivery timelines. Applies baseline hardening profiles to new images, runs security scans, and corrects deviations to maintain compliance with Department of War Security Technical Implementation Guides. Contributes to secure container image development by applying DoW container-hardening standards, dependency verification, and configuration validation. Supports automated testing within continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines by developing unit tests, regression suites, compliance checks, and performance benchmarks that elevate code quality. Investigates functional defects, pipeline errors, configuration mismatches, and runtime issues using Splunk, Grafana, GitLab, Kubernetes dashboards, and enclave-specific debugging tools. Owns multiple user stories per sprint, provides accurate estimates, participates in daily stand-ups and retrospectives, and coordinates with platform engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and system architects. Sets up alerts for owned services, writes and updates runbooks and detailed design documentation, and proposes tooling upgrades that strengthen operational readiness, technical accuracy, and structured integration support across the War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration enterprise. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). 3–10 years of experience in software engineering, application development, or a closely related technical discipline within federal, DoW, or enterprise software delivery environments operating under Agile or DevSecOps methodologies. Demonstrated hands-on proficiency developing production-grade software using Python, Java, or JavaScript alongside containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes, with applied experience writing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or equivalent tools in classified or government cloud environments. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution. * Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
