Position Summary Trident is looking for a DevOps Engineer to support the development, deployment, automation, and maintenance of software infrastructure across engineering programs. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong foundation in Linux, scripting, networking, CI/CD, and cloud or virtualized environments. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with software, firmware, systems engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and test teams to help improve build pipelines, deployment processes, development environments, and infrastructure reliability. Duties and Responsibilities CI/CD and Automation Support, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for software and firmware projects. Assist with automated builds, testing, packaging, and deployment workflows. Help troubleshoot failed builds, pipeline errors, and environment issues. Write and maintain scripts to automate repetitive engineering and infrastructure tasks. Support version control workflows using tools such as Git. Infrastructure Support Assist with setup and maintenance of development, test, and deployment environments. Support Linux and Windows server environments. Help manage virtual machines, containers, and related infrastructure. Assist with configuration management and environment documentation. Support infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools. Cloud, Virtualization, and Containers Support cloud-based infrastructure in environments such as Azure or AWS. Assist with containerized applications using Docker or similar technologies. Help maintain virtualized environments using tools such as VMware ESXi or equivalent. Support basic infrastructure-as-code practices where applicable. Security and Compliance Support Follow secure configuration and access control practices. Assist with patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening activities. Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements for engineering environments. Help maintain documentation needed for audits, reviews, or customer deliverables. Engineering Team Support Work with software and firmware engineers to resolve build, integration, and environment issues. Support test environments used for integration, verification, and release activities. Help improve developer productivity through better tools, automation, and documentation. Participate in troubleshooting activities across software, infrastructure, and network boundaries Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related technical field; or equivalent experience / combined education. 2+ years of related experience (OR 6+ years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree) Experience with Linux command line and system administration. Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, firewalls, ports, and routing. Experience with Git or other source control tools. Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and software build processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD tools. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized development environments. Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS. Experience with VMware ESXi, virtual machines, or hypervisors. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar. Exposure to cybersecurity practices, system hardening, or vulnerability scanning. Experience supporting software or firmware engineering teams. Familiarity with Agile development practices and issue tracking tools such as Jira. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
