Data Analyst
Job Title: Data Analyst (Financial Services – AWS) Company: AIT Global Location: Sandton, Johannesburg (Hybrid) Job Type: Contract Experience: 2 to 5 years About the Role AIT Global is looking for an experienced Data Analyst for one of our clients. You will turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decisions and business performance. The environment is on AWS cloud. Key Responsibilities - Deliver accurate and timely analysis across multiple business areas to support decision-making. - Present insights clearly to senior and executive stakeholders. - Build KPIs, reports, dashboards, forecasting and scenario analysis tools for technical and non-technical users. - Translate business questions into data requirements, working between business and technical teams. - Apply advanced statistical analysis and build simple predictive models with support from data scientists. - Help define and build data marts used by multiple teams. - Identify data quality gaps and ensure new projects meet data needs. - Own analysis projects end to end, including planning, scoping, timelines and delivery. - Mentor less experienced analysts in SQL, Python and data visualisation. - Use GenAI and modern tooling to improve productivity. Requirements - 2 to 5 years of experience in data analysis, with a significant portion in banking or financial services. - Bachelor's degree in an analytical, data or technical field (Honours preferred). - Advanced SQL, including complex queries, performance optimisation and large datasets. - Advanced Python or R (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, seaborn). - Strong dashboard and visualisation skills in Power BI, Tableau or similar. - Advanced Excel, including macros and VBA. - Strong knowledge of statistical methods, predictive analytics and data modelling. - Understanding of risk analysis, financial products, regulations and compliance. - Experience with AWS cloud data services (e.g. S3, Redshift, Athena, SageMaker) is highly advantageous. - Proven track record of leading data analysis projects and driving business impact. - Excellent communication skills, including presenting to non-technical stakeholders.
