Job Summary: Southern Industrial is looking for a Regional QA QC Manager for our Raleigh and Greensboro region. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Quality Director in the development and implementation of all quality related procedures and processes; to improve project quality by recommending correct construction methods to subcontractors and company personnel prior to installation and during installation; identify substandard work; and remedy corrective action during construction. The person in this role will have extensive travel and ensure that all products/services meet requirements through being an integral part of the construction process by means of coaching, educating and mentoring. #SIC #LI-SW1#LI-onsite Essential Duties \& Responsibilities: Reviews applicable plans and specifications. Understands what the governing construction codes are for responsibly projects. Reviews NDE procedures to ensure that project and code requirements are met. Reviews the work scope in-order to assess which welding procedures need to be submitted for approval or need to be developed. Develops and at times assists project teams in the development of quality plans, ITP’s and turnover package structure. Ensures Quality Plan includes roles and responsibilities and that all quality related activities are included . Assists the project in obtaining qualified inspection personnel. Secures appropriate inspection equipment per project requirements. Establishes/Develops training for project including orientation. Create project audit plan. Determine the appropriate Procedures that will need to be employed for the project and modify as needed to meet any project specific requirements. Reviews applicable plans and specifications. Secures appropriate inspection equipment per project requirements. Monitors Site Quality Managers/Inspectors, projects and subcontractors for compliance to the Quality Program and Plan. Responsible for oversite of all quality related records are maintained in accordance with internal procedures. Monitors quality manpower needs and address any additional personnel needed with the project manager. Assess the any technical questions or investigations. Responsible for the day to day operations of the project quality personnel. Promote the awareness of the Project Quality Plan to the BMWC construction workers and sub-contractors. Insure that appropriate personnel are informed of any nonconformance and that proper corrective action is taken. Investigate the root cause of nonconformance and assist in development of means to avoid recurrence. Ensure that Measure and Testing Equipment is correctly maintained and kept in calibration. Performs audits per plan. Provide for the control and disposition of any project quality related problems. Coordinates Source inspections needs/requirements. Ensures that quality records are achieved as required. Participates in lessons learned. Demonstrate understanding of Corporate Values and Guiding Principles of SIC. Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills as well as, communication, time management, and other skills necessary for effective management. Actively participate in training opportunities. Be cognizant of marketing opportunities with Clients. + Foster client relationships. Manage the Quality Department and its members by: + Performing monthly one to one’s with direct reports. + Peform and manage the yearly performance review/evaluation process Qualifications: Requirements 7 years of professional experience in construction quality management with experience managing employees. Certified Welding Inspector with AWS. Knowledge of ASME, AWS, NB, and all other applicable Codes and application of same. Strong service orientation, outstanding organizational skills, flexibility and professionalism. Excellent verbal communication as well as written skills. Knowledge of various construction trades, construction practices, means and methods. Effective time management, strong detail orientation and accuracy. Ability to work productively with a diverse team and provide customer service. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a constantly changing environment. Previous experience researching corrective options and ability to make recommendations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, Outlook; technical aptitude to learn internal systems. Capable of dealing with conflict and difficult people. Working knowledge of managing budgets. Ability to fulfill or assist with other duties as directed by the Assistant Quality Director or Quality Director. Education High school diploma required. BS in Engineering, Construction Management or Industrial Technology – optional. Additional coursework, training and/or certification are also preferred. Work Environment: The working conditions and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Required 40 hours per week, during working hours per project requirements. Employees are expected to have, utilize, maintain and wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by SIC, the client and any other applicable regulatory agency or management directive. Occasional exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property. Must be able to effectively use any required PPE equipment. * Consistent Jobsite Visits. About the role We are looking for a Device Automation \& QA Manager to own software quality end-to-end for our device platforms. This role is the final quality gate for device software releases and operates alongside but independently from product development teams, with clear accountability for release readiness, test coverage, and test fleet health. You will design, build, and operate a scalable automated test infrastructure spanning devices, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), backend services, and CI/CD systems. You will also manage and grow a highly technical QA and automation team. Your work will directly enable faster development cycles, higher release confidence, and fewer issues reaching the field. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will write and review test code, design test architectures, interact directly with hardware, and set the quality bar for multiple device product lines. Over time, this role will define how quality scales as our device portfolio, team size, and system complexity grow. In this role, you will: Own the automation and QA strategy for Device Software, serving as the independent verification and final release gate for all device releases Recruit and hire top talent to the QA team that will be able to be self-sufficient within the realms of software, hardware and fleet management Act as the build and release manager including release scheduling, readiness reviews, and release notes Design, implement, and evolve a large-scale automated test fleet, including test devices, test stations, and custom HIL systems Architect and operate test infrastructure spanning: + Devices (Orb and future products) + Test stations that interact with devices like a human would + Backend services, CI/CD pipelines, and fleet management tooling Designing and automating regression, smoke, and nightly test workflows Define quality benchmarks and test strategies in partnership with project leads for new products and features Build and manage a team of Automation / QA Engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management Enable scalable fleet operations, including: Automated test deployment and updates CI-triggered test execution Monitoring and troubleshooting of test failures Investigate and reproduce field issues, acting as first-line triage before handing off to firmware, software, hardware, and backend teams Continuously improve test coverage, execution speed, and system reliability, including negative and fault-injection testing You might thrive in this role if you have: Are deeply hands-on with software and hardware, comfortable debugging real devices, test rigs, and electrical signals Have designed or owned automation systems at scale, including fleets of test devices Write and review high-quality test code and enjoy building reusable, maintainable test frameworks and libraries Can read production firmware and software code to understand system behavior and translate that understanding into targeted tests Are naturally curious and proactive— you dig for bugs, edge cases, and failure modes others miss.
