Senior OSINT Data Analyst

Datenna BVEindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands

From $10/yr

Datenna is a fast-growing tech scale-up combining cutting-edge OSINT and AI technologies to provide governments with critical insights into China's techno-economic landscape. Our platform transforms open-source intelligence into actionable insights through advanced data processing and analysis. The Role: As Senior OSINT Data Analyst you will sit at the core of Datenna’s product operations and act as a domain authority for our data. You will define which foreign-language sources we collect for each region we cover, set and defend the standards that data is held to, and turn complex registry, procurement, and patent material into structured, platform-ready intelligence. You will own major areas of coverage end to end, guide the analysts around you, and be a trusted voice in product decisions. Your mission at Datenna: Analysis and data intelligence Apply deep regional domain knowledge to develop products that identify, map, and classify entities across corporate, academic, defence-industrial, and innovation landscapes, with a focus on state-military-commercial integration, dual-use technologies, state ownership, and technology transfer. Use pattern-recognition skills to connect corporate, state, and military actors, including opaque ownership structures and intermediaries, and generate structured intelligence that feeds directly into Datenna’s platform. Make and defend analytical judgements on entity risk labelling, ownership mapping, and procurement tracking, prioritising platform-ready outputs over long-form research deliverables. Data Collection, quality and lifecycle management Define and own data collection workstreams end to end: identifying, evaluating, and extracting structured information from non-English sources including corporate registries, procurement portals, patent databases, academic repositories, and state media. Manage data across its full lifecycle, from initial acquisition and parsing through cleaning, enrichment, validation, and delivery into Datenna’s platform, maintaining rigorous standards so that every data point is traceable, accurate, and defensible. Work closely with the Data Lead to set and continuously refine data quality benchmarks, turning observations from collection and testing work into improvements to automated pipelines. Product development Play a leading role in Datenna’s data-driven product development cycle, contributing regional domain expertise to the design, testing, and refinement of new platform features and data products. Shape how Datenna’s proprietary risk labelling systems evolve, drawing on hands-on OSINT experience to identify edge cases and improve classification accuracy. Map gaps in Datenna’s data coverage against what customers need, and make the case for the sources, methods, and investment required to close them, including the extension of our approach to new regions. Coordination and collaboration Coordinate between data researchers and software developers to support smooth data processing pipelines, translating analytical requirements into clear technical specifications. Set the methodological standard for OSINT work as the team grows: reviewing outputs, mentoring junior and medior researchers on OSINT tradecraft, and ensuring work meets Datenna’s data quality standards. What makes you a great candidate: 8-10 years of hands-on OSINT experience, including direct collection, verification, and analysis from non-English open sources such as corporate registries, government procurement portals, patent databases, academic repositories, and state media. Demonstrable experience contributing to data-driven product development, whether through structured dataset creation, analytical input into software features, or validation of intelligence platform outputs. Reading proficiency in Chinese at minimum HSK 4 level or equivalent, together with the ability to independently source, interrogate, and extract structured data from foreign-language materials. Working proficiency in Russian is preferred. Strong knowledge of at least one region’s corporate sector, innovation ecosystem, defence-industrial base, industrial policy, and the intersection of state, military, and commercial actors, with the ability to identify entity-level connections across Datenna’s key domains and to learn new jurisdictions quickly. Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with experience producing analytical outputs for non-specialist audiences and presenting findings to customers or senior stakeholders. Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SQL, and comfort working with large structured datasets and contributing to data pipelines. Experience with name-matching and transliteration at scale, for example Chinese or Cyrillic, is an advantage. A postgraduate qualification in Area Studies, International Relations, Security Studies, or a related field is preferred. Please know that applicants may be subject to a screening process. AI is part of how we build We use AI tools extensively to move faster and raise quality, and we focus our human attention on the work where judgment, creativity, and responsibility matter most. We expect every candidate to be comfortable using AI in their day-to-day work in a responsible manner and to continuously look for better ways to apply it. Work on globally impactful projects in geopolitical intelligence Lead innovation in OSINT and AI technologies Competitive compensation and benefits Dynamic, international team environment Significant growth opportunities in a scale-up When you apply to this position, we will process your personal data according to our Recruitment Privacy Notice .
