In this role, you will be the bridge between complex health information and our audience, translating medical insights into engaging, accessible, and actionable daily content. While this role sits within the marketing team, the primary focus is writing. You are a storyteller first and a marketer second. You understand how to craft subject lines that demand to be opened and body copy that keeps readers scrolling. You will be responsible for curating and writing multiple newsletters per week, ensuring that every word aligns with WebMD’s trusted tone while driving meaningful engagement. The ideal candidate has a background in journalism, copywriting, or editorial content and possesses a unique flair for making health topics relatable and interesting. Key Responsibilities Content Creation \& Copywriting: Write, edit, and curate daily and weekly newsletters for a US audience. You will produce high-volume, high-quality copy that includes catchy headlines, engaging pre-headers, and digestible body summaries. Editorial Curation: Select the most relevant articles, news, and features from the WebMD network to present to our audience, ensuring a mix of timely news and evergreen health tips. Voice \& Tone Management: Maintain a consistent brand voice that is empathetic, authoritative, and accessible. You must be able to translate complex medical jargon into consumer-friendly language without losing accuracy. Subject Line Optimization: relentlessly craft and A/B test subject lines to maximize Visit Rates, using creativity and psychological triggers to stand out in crowded inboxes. Editorial Calendar Management: Manage the writing schedule and content pipeline to ensure timely delivery of all newsletter assets. Collaboration: Work closely with editorial and marketing managers to align content themes with broader marketing initiatives, ensuring a unified brand voice and seamless execution of campaign strategies. Required Qualifications 2+ years of professional writing experience (Journalism, Copywriting, or Content Marketing), with a specific portfolio demonstrating newsletter or short-form digital content. Exceptional English writing and editing skills. You have a mastery of grammar, syntax, and style (AP Style preferred), with an eagle eye for typos. Ability to synthesize complex information. Experience taking dense or technical source material (preferably medical/health) and rewriting it for a general US audience. Headline writing expertise. You know the difference between a clever headline and a click-bait headline, and you know how to write for high click-through rates (CTR). Deadline-driven. Ability to write high-quality copy at a fast pace to meet daily deployment schedules. Self-starter with a desire to ask questions, learn, and adapt the editorial voice based on performance data. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with global teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the Healthcare/Wellness industry. Familiarity with health topics, medical compliance, or science writing is a major plus. Experience using Generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Google AI, etc.) as an assistant for ideation and outlining (not replacing final output). Familiarity with email platforms (ESPs) like Salesforce Marketing Cloud (ExactTarget) for content staging. * Experience with project management tools: Workfront, YouTrack.
