Junior Data & Automation Engineer

Join Pigment: The AI Platform Redefining Business Planning Pigment is the AI-powered business planning and performance management platform built for agility and scale. We connect people, data, and processes in one intuitive, feature-rich solution, empowering every team—from Finance to HR—to build, adapt, and align strategic plans in real time. Founded in 2019, Pigment is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally. Industry leaders like Unilever, Snowflake, Siemens, and DPD use Pigment daily to make more informed decisions and confidently navigate any scenario. With a team of 600+ across Paris, London, New York, Toronto, San Francisco and Austin, we've raised nearly $400M from top-tier investors and were named a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Financial Planning Software. At Pigment, we take smart risks, celebrate bold ideas, and challenge the status quo—all while working as one team. If you're driven by innovation and ready to make an impact at scale, we’d love to hear from you. The Data & Automations Team The Data & Automations team builds and operates Pigment's internal data platform, and designs, implements, and maintains the intelligent automation solutions that rely on it. Together, they streamline business processes and enhance data-driven decision making: we empower product, business and corporate functions through technology integration, robust data architecture, and process optimization, enabling teams to focus on high-value activities while ensuring accuracy and scalability. The data platform is the foundation of everything we deliver. It is a centralized, governed ecosystem that collects, stores, transforms, and serves data to internal consumers across Product, Go-To-Market (GTM), and General & Administrative (G&A) functions, providing a single source of truth for analytics, automations, and AI. Making it reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and scalable is at the core of our mission. The team also consolidates and orchestrates AI efforts across Pigment, from governance and enablement to building AI-powered solutions. Our team tackles diverse challenges, from integrating finance and HR systems and streamlining employee lifecycle processes, to building pipelines that turn product usage and customer interactions into actionable insights for Finance or GTM teams. AI is now at the center of most of what we do with data: many of our pipelines feed LLM-powered solutions, and the quality, structure, and governance of our data architecture directly determine what these solutions can deliver. The team is led by Pigment's Deputy CISO and works closely with the Security team: security and data governance are part of how we build, not an afterthought. Role As a Junior Data and Automations Engineer, you will contribute to the continued development of Pigment's data platform: ingestion pipelines, dbt models, orchestration, data quality, and the underlying cloud infrastructure. You will also build and maintain the data pipelines, automations, and AI projects that support our G&A (Finance, People, IT) and GTM (Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships) teams. You will work closely with senior engineers, starting with well-scoped tasks and progressively taking ownership of small projects end to end, from requirements gathering to production monitoring. This role involves collaborating with a wide range of internal stakeholders and requires excellent communication skills in English (primarily) and French, verbal and written. Tech environment Our core stack relies on Google Cloud Platform, maintained with Terraform, with components including BigQuery, Cloud Run, and Cloud Composer (Airflow), as well as dbt, Fivetran, Hightouch, Elementary for data observability, and Python for integrations and automations. Our pipelines connect business systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, our HRIS, Gong, or Slack, and feed Pigment applications used by our own business teams. We also build LLM-powered pipelines and use AI tools in our daily engineering work. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow your skills across these technologies while making a meaningful impact on Pigment's operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Data & Automations team's more senior members, you will participate in addressing the following topics. Data Platform & Infrastructure: Develop and maintain ingestion pipelines from APIs, databases, and SaaS tools, using Fivetran, Airflow, and Python Build and maintain dbt models that turn raw data into clean, documented, and tested datasets Contribute to the evolution of our orchestration, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code setup Help improve data quality, observability, and alerting across the platform G&A and GTM Data Pipelines & Automations: Build pipelines and integrations that sync data between business systems (CRM, ERP, HRIS) through our data warehouse, including reverse ETL with Hightouch Develop Python-based automations that remove manual work for teams such as Finance, People, IT, and Customer Success Prepare reliable datasets for reporting and for the Pigment applications used by business teams AI Projects: Contribute to AI-powered solutions, such as LLM pipelines that extract, classify, and enrich unstructured data (call transcripts, messages, tickets) Build the data foundations these projects rely on: AI-ready datasets, usage and observability data, evaluation data Apply data architecture principles that make our data reliable, well-documented, and safely accessible for AI use cases (context, retrieval, access scoping) Monitoring & Support: Monitor pipelines and automations, troubleshoot incidents, and fix root causes Document data models, pipelines, and processes for both technical and business readers Collaboration & Learning: Work with stakeholders - as diverse as Finance, People, Sales, and Product - to understand requirements and translate them into data solutions Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions Continuously expand your knowledge of data engineering, automation, and AI best practices What you'll do Under the supervision of the Business Automation team’s more senior members, you will participate in addressing the following topics. Join Pigment: The AI Platform Redefining Business Planning Pigment is the AI-powered business planning and performance management platform built for agility and scale. We connect people, data, and processes in one intuitive, feature-rich solution, empowering every team - from Finance to HR - to build, adapt, and align strategic plans in real time. Founded in 2019, Pigment is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally. At Pigment, we take smart risks, celebrate bold ideas, and challenge the status quo - all while working as one team. If you're driven by innovation and ready to make an impact at scale, we’d love to hear from you. The opportunity We are looking for a Senior SRE profile who will design and implement the Pigment infrastructure for tomorrow. Pigment is a technically challenging platform. It calculates and synchronizes large datasets that must be updated in real-time. Data comes from client models that can be up to billions of rows. This data can be pivoted, transformed, and aggregated on-demand through our formula engine while rendering live on our front end. Here are the challenges to be tackled as an SRE : Define and build the infrastructure needed to answer our performance challenges, automate it, and make it scalable. In particular, ensure that the infrastructure scales in and out according to the platform usage. Secure high availability and redundancy of the Pigment platform. Ensure that the platform’s performance and correctness are monitored accordingly, spread observability best practices across the engineering team. Participate in incident response. Accompany Pigment geographical expansion as the company grows and we sign clients overseas. Work with our security team on the implementation of their roadmap when related to infrastructure and development pipelines (code repository, credentials management, ...) Continuously chase inefficiencies within our development practices and pipelines. Seek improvement and automation wherever possible. Drive change across the software engineering team. In addition to SRE responsibilities, we expect you to contribute to software development activities. We believe SRE engineers should collaborate closely with software engineers, fostering a shared understanding of day-to-day challenges, rather than operating in separate teams. Last but not least, you will not be alone! You will be part of an SRE team. Our Engineering team Our Engineering team is responsible for developing our SaaS platform and building a comprehensive and user-friendly product. Pigment engineers participate in the entire application development lifecycle, focusing on design, coding, and keeping the production platform up and running. They can be specialized, but there is no strict separation between the infrastructure, backend, and the frontend. We value user-centricity and pragmatism: we choose the most relevant tools for the problem we have to solve, understanding the strengths and constraints of each technology. Our engineering culture also values curiosity, humility, trust, ownership and team spirit. Technical stack: Kubernetes (GKE, hosted on Google Cloud Platform): hosting all our infrastructure components except some PostgreSQL hosts, hosted on Google Cloud SQL Terraform: all our infrastructure is managed via this infrastructure as code (creation of GKE clusters, Google Cloud SQL databases, GCS buckets, IAM permissions...) Databases: PostgreSQL (CloudSQL and CloudNativePG), SingleStore, ElasticSearch RabbitMQ: queuing system Temporal.io: workflow automation platform Others: ArgoCD, Istio, Vault, Github, Docker (for local development) Backend: Microservices written in C# ASP.NET Core 8 (running exclusively on Linux) & Golang Frontend: React + Typescript, Jest, Cypress, Vite... Who you are More than knowledge of a specific cloud provider, language, or automation framework, we are looking for great engineering skills: the ability to translate product requirements into an elegant and simple architecture, and then make sure our product runs well on it. We are also looking for engineers who understand the product and the customer's needs in detail and can suggest innovative ideas: in the end, it's all about delivering value to end-users. In any case, you have: Experience as a software engineer & DevOps / SRE Experience with a container orchestration platform (Kubernetes is a plus) Experience with a public cloud provider, GCP is a plus Proven experience in software developments with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby (this list is not exhaustive). Experience with observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, Jaeger...) Great team spirit with a problem-solving attitude. A good dose of humility and the willingness to grow (no matter your seniority!). Principal Security Engineer, Product & Infrastructure

FranceFrom $400/yr

Join Pigment: The AI Platform Redefining Business Planning Pigment is the AI-powered business planning and performance management platform built for agility and scale. We connect people, data, and processes in one intuitive, feature-rich solution, empowering every team - from Finance to HR - to build, adapt, and align strategic plans in real time. Founded in 2019, Pigment is one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies globally. Industry leaders like Unilever, Uber, Anthropic, Snowflake or Siemens, use Pigment daily to make more informed decisions and confidently navigate any scenario. With a team of 700+ across Paris, London, New York, Toronto, San Francisco and Austin, we've raised nearly $400M from top-tier investors and were named a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Financial Planning Software. At Pigment, we take smart risks, celebrate bold ideas, and challenge the status quo - all while working as one team. If you're driven by innovation and ready to make an impact at scale, we’d love to hear from you. Reporting to the CISO, you'll own the security roadmap for Pigment's product, infrastructure, and CI/CD environment, and you'll build much of it yourself. This is a hands-on role: expect to read code, threat model new services, reproduce and triage vulnerabilities, dig through infrastructure configuration and build the automation that closes gaps. You'll also set direction and bring product and engineering with you, but that influence comes from technical credibility and not process: the engineers you work with will take you seriously because you've been in the same code they have. The scope is broad: application security, infrastructure security, detection and response, and the assurance work that keeps our certifications standing. You won't be covering it alone. The security team is seven people and growing, with colleagues already owning compliance, governance and security operations, so this role can go deep on product and infrastructure and not be spread too thin across everything. Nobody arrives fluent in all of it: we're looking for real depth in several of these areas and the judgement to grow into the rest. Key responsibilities include: Product & Infrastructure Security Design - Design security features into the product itself and strengthen defence-in-depth across the platform. Threat model new services before they ship, and make the architectural calls that are expensive to reverse later. Security Review & Risk Assessment - Review code, architecture and configuration yourself, and be the person developers and PMs bring problems to early rather than late. Deliver solutions that balance risk against business benefit, and escalate the calls that genuinely need senior arbitration. Assurance & Testing - Run our assurance programme: internal code, architecture and configuration reviews, red team exercises, and the bug bounty. Own the relationship with third-party auditors, and measure the control KPIs that keep our certifications defensible. Vulnerability Management - Own vulnerabilities from detection through to verified fix: reproduce them, score and triage them, design or validate the mitigation, and confirm it actually worked. Improve the KPIs that tell you whether the process is holding. Detection Engineering - Build and improve our detection capability alongside the infrastructure and engineering teams: identify the signals worth collecting, write rules that catch real attacks without drowning us in noise, and build the response playbooks behind them. Incident Response - Lead security investigations into the production environment end to end, from first signal to root cause, across incidents and fraud. Flag the repetitive work worth automating and the detections worth building, and hand those to the security operations team. SDLC - Set the technical direction for how engineers at Pigment build securely: guidance, paved paths, and reviews that teach and not just gate. Contribute to company-wide awareness where it counts, but your primary audience is product, engineering and SRE. Example projects that would fall under your responsibilities (actual examples of recently completed or currently on the roadmap): Secure the design and development of our AI features, including the MCP Server and Modeler Agent: threat modelling, design reviews, working alongside the engineers building them, and security assessments. Work out where AI-assisted analysis actually belongs in our pipeline. AI-powered security reviews reason about a diff semantically rather than pattern-matching it, which is genuinely different from classic SAST - but it's not a drop-in replacement, and figuring out the split between AI review, traditional SAST and SCA is an open question we'd like you to answer with evidence rather than vendor claims. Migrate GitHub to managed identities: provisioning through Okta, retiring personal accounts and long-lived PATs, and moving CI to short-lived OIDC credentials instead of stored keys. Design agent identity for the MCP Server - delegated access tokens, token exchange, and making sure an agent acting for a user can never exceed what that user could do themselves. Push least privilege further across production and CI/CD. Better than it was, not where we want it. For a concrete example: here 's how we built a sandboxed execution environment for LLM-generated code. Technical Environment Mostly production, with the occasional internal IT-adjacent project: Main sites in Paris, London, Toronto and NYC MacOS, Windows, Linux workstations GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Postgres, SingleStore, Vault Okta, OAuth, JWT, C#, .NET Core, TypeScript, React, Python, Go Datadog (SIEM), CloudFlare ZTNA, Falco, Wiz, Riot, HackerOne, TruffleHog Google Workspace, Jumpcloud, Vanta, Hibob, Slack GitHub, CircleCI, ArgoCD SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 42001 Who you are You have at least 8 years of experience in security as a Security Engineer, Pentester or Security consultant, with real depth in product and/or infrastructure security. We care more about the scope of what you've owned than the exact number of years. What you've done Owned a security roadmap for a product or platform end to end, rather than delivering items on someone else's Driven security work through engineering teams you had no authority over Been the person your organisation escalated to on hard architectural calls Worked hands-on across a broad technical surface - development, databases, networking, web How you work You're hands-on and intend to stay that way (this position does not include people management) You look for the workable answer, not the blocking one You have a good dose of humility, and you help the people around you get better You speak English fluently, French is a strong plus How we hire After a first call with our recruiter, five conversations, around four hours in total, usually over two to three weeks: Ways of working (45 min) — how you operate with people, and what draws you to this role specifically. Technical deep dive (1h30) with a security engineer — including a practical. We'll give you a real problem we've already solved and talk through how you'd approach it. Cross-functional (45 min) with an engineer from product or platform — someone who'd be on the receiving end of your work. Ownership and career (1h) with the CISO and a member of the security team. Final (45 min) with our co-founder and CTO. What we offer Competitive package Stock options to ensure you have a stake in Pigment's growth The best health insurance with Alan Blue, entirely free for you and your family Weekly Lunch and Lunch vouchers (Swile card) to cover your lunch breaks with total flexibility Subscription to Egym Wellpass (ex-Gymlib) for full access to gyms, studios, and wellness spaces across France A Learning Stipend per year, for you to develop into areas that amplify impact for your careers or personal development Remote work stipend to have the best work station possible at home Along with one company offsite every year, we have brand new offices at the heart of major cities including New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, and London High-end equipment (based on stock/availability) to do your work in the best conditions We conduct background checks as part of our hiring process, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations in the countries where we operate.
