Position Summary The Cardiac Rehab Clinical Exercise Physiologist provides direct care and guidance to patients and families with cardiovascular disease and those whom are at high risk of developing heart disease. The Cardiac Rehab Clinical Exercise Physiologist assists with the cardiac monitoring of patients, instructs patients on proper use of equipment, and observes and evaluates patients’ response to exercise, adjusting as indicated. This individual provides education to the patients and their family members, incorporating knowledge of cardiovascular disease and lifestyle modification. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Physiologist position reports to the Assistant Unit Manager Cardiac Rehabilitation/Women’s Cardiac Health Program and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Conducts inpatient phase I cardiac rehab program, outpatient phase 2 cardiac rehab program and the outpatient phase 3 program. Assists with heart and vascular related community outreach programs. Assists in the supervision of exercise sessions, observing and reporting the patient’s physiological response to exercise. Talks with patients. Communicates effectively with team members about individual patient findings or concerns. Assists with the intake of cardiac rehab referrals. Assures patient safety by correctly applying telemetry to patients in phase 2. Recognizes and communicates normal and abnormal EKG and heart rhythms. Has knowledge of and instructs patients on the use of exercise equipment and makes necessary individual adjustments. Identifies educational needs and provides the teaching necessary for each patient by interacting effectively with patients through both oral and written communication. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of patient data base, documentation, EPIC (and other related IT systems). Maintains service areas, clean equipment, necessary supplies, and reports any malfunctions to ensure professionalism and safety standards. Creates a positive team environment and enhances customer service by supporting a “no gossip” work environment, assuring that complaints are correctly routed to supervisory staff and not shared among coworkers who cannot change the issue. Assure AIDET is used appropriately with patients and families. Performs other duties as assigned. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Position Summary The Cardiac Rehab Supervisor provides operational and clinical leadership for the Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) programs within Therapy Services. Serving as the Program Director for both CR and PR, this role ensures safe, effective, and high-quality rehabilitation services in alignment with AACVPR certification standards, CMS requirements, and the organization’s mission of advancing patient-centered care. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Serves as leader for cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation, responsible for daily operations, compliance, and quality outcomes. Partners with Medical Directors (CR \& PR) for oversight of clinical care, safety policies, and individualized treatment plans (ITPs). Supervises, mentors, and evaluates interdisciplinary team members, including RNs, Exercise Physiologists, PTs, Respiratory Therapists, and support staff. Oversees the scheduler/authorization coordinator role to ensure timely patient scheduling and payer authorization. Develops and implements policies and workflows in accordance with American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) program certification standards. Ensures safe and effective delivery of physician-prescribed exercise, education, and risk factor modification. Monitors program capacity, session scheduling, and space utilization to maximize patient access. Leads efforts to reduce wait times (goal 30 days) and increase program completion rates (goal 65%). Coordinates equipment maintenance, safety checks, and emergency preparedness (AED, O₂, crash cart). Maintains readiness for AACVPR Program Certification, including emergency policies, staff competencies, and documentation standards (once certification achieved). Tracks and reports KPIs: enrollment, completion, readmissions, functional outcomes. Ensures compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, Title 22, and hospital policies. Provides education to patients, families, and staff regarding CR/PR goals, safety, and lifestyle modification. Collaborates with physicians, case management, and hospital leadership to optimize referrals and transitions of care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary committees.
