Management Accountant
About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant for our client for an initial 6-month contract, with an immediate start. Working within a collaborative finance team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering robust financial planning, management reporting, budgeting, and capital project analysis across diverse business units. Key Responsibilities * Prepare, maintain, reconcile, and modify organizational budgets and carry-forward funds. * Support and provide backup for the organisation’s Long-Term Financial Planning. * Deliver timely and accurate management reports with specific compliance to Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation. * Analyse and interpret financial data to produce clear commentary and narratives for executive decision-making. * Deliver financial oversight and project reporting for a significant capital works program (~$180M–$200M), including year-end asset capitalization processes. * Maintain the integrity of core accounting systems, General Ledger, Projects Ledger, and chart of accounts. * Ensure month-end close processes and reconciliations are executed smoothly and accurately. * Provide professional financial advice and cost control guidance directly to operational managers and business units. * Assist in developing costing models and preparing budget presentation materials for council and executive leadership. Skills \& Qualifications Essential Criteria * Bachelor’s degree with CA or CPA qualification * Current National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain one) * Comprehensive background in management reporting and general ledger accounting * Sound working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards * Intermediate to advanced MS Excel capabilities, along with strong general MS Office skills * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with non-finance stakeholders Desirable Criteria: * Prior accounting experience within Local Government, including familiarity with relevant Local Government Acts and Regulations * Practical, hands-on experience using TechnologyOne (TechOne) * 5+ years of relevant accounting and financial analysis experience For a more information on the role, contact Leeann via leeann.soden@hudson.com Diversity, Equity \& Inclusion at Hudson Hudson is committed to helping you find a workplace where you feel respected, supported, and free to thrive.
