Overview: Certified Medical Assistant, Fort Sanders Women's Specialists Full Time, 80 Hours per pay period, Day Shift Perinatal Overview: Fort Sanders Perinatal Center, part of Covenant Health, specializes in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies. For more than 25 years, the center has provided expert guidance and advanced services for complex conditions such as multiples, maternal age, diabetes, hypertension, and infertility-related pregnancies. With locations in Knoxville, Morristown, and Sevierville, the team is dedicated to helping families make informed decisions and ensuring the safest possible outcomes for mothers and babies. Position Summary: Under general supervision, performs basic nursing procedures on patients. Assists physicians or practitioner with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Responsibilities: Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Performs basic nursing procedures such as weighing patients, taking vital signs and listening to fetal heart tones. Performs venipunctures, blood sugars, injections, and other lab procedures as indicated. Interviews and retrieves initial basic evaluation of patient, inputs information into EMR, and reports to appropriate practitioner. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families during visit; demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication. Assists physicians or practitioner with examinations, various OB/GYN procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and necessary equipment. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient's medical records. Maintains all required reports, statistics, etc. Assists with filling out lab requests and filing lab results in patient's chart. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when appropriate.
