About the role We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Test to own hardware components of our automated and manual test platforms in Device Software. This role identifies, defines and builds hardware systems needed to automate user behavior in a test environment. This role operates alongside but independently from product development teams, with clear accountability for release readiness, test coverage, and test fleet health. You will design, build, and operate a scalable automated test infrastructure spanning devices and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems. Your work will directly enable faster development cycles, higher release confidence, and fewer issues reaching the field. You will write and review test code, design physical test architectures, interact directly with hardware to help set the quality bar for multiple device product lines. Over time, this role will define how quality scales as our device portfolio, team size, and system complexity grow. Cable Backplane Systems (CBS) develops and manufactures passive copper cable solutions using our twin-ax cable and backplane interconnect technologies. The cable assemblies replace traditional printed circuit boards and are used in AI compute servers racks, director switches and other datacenter applications. The Senior Test Engineer will have a hands-on approach to designing and developing test processes, plans, and methodologies. Engage with systems, hardware, and software development engineering teams to accomplish the following in pursuit of integration and testing: capture requirements, define use cases, work backwards from product strategy. End to end functional and performance testing to include ground equipment, satellite, customer terminals and cloud services. Expand test coverage in lab by integrating with test equipment and collaborating closely with test equipment vendors. Troubleshoot and root cause MAC to application layer throughput degradation and packet losses across the system. Support and reproduce on orbit functional and performance issues in the lab. Draft and maintain high quality documentation for program-level feedback: test verification matrix, status tracking, test runs for record.
