About the role: As a Senior Data Analyst within Safer Care Victoria's Medicines and Pharmacy Improvement team, you will play a critical role in supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous optimisation of the Victorian Statewide Medicines Formulary and other medicines‑related improvement initiatives. Working under the guidance of the Digital Solutions and Analytics Manager, you will be responsible for collecting, cleansing, validating and interpreting medicines‑related data from multiple sources across Victorian public health services. You will apply analytical techniques to identify trends, outliers, discrepancies and opportunities for improvement, ensuring the program has accurate, timely and meaningful insights to inform evidence‑based decision‑making. A key component of this role is transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights, including dashboards, reports and visualisations that enable the statewide formulary team to monitor compliance, identify variation in medicines use, understand procurement impacts and support health services to achieve safer, more consistent and equitable access to medicines. This role also contributes to the broader development of a sector‑wide digital platform supporting formulary management. The role would be suited to individuals who are comfortable working with complex issues, in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams and with a range of internal and external stakeholders * Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as data science, statistics, analytics, health informatics, public health, or pharmacy. * Certification or training in health informatics or CHIA highly desirable. * Strong understanding of pharmacy dispensing and inventory systems, including the database structures and system architecture behind platforms such as iPharmacy and Merlin. Skilled in how these systems manage stock control, dispensing logic, formulary and PBS data, as well as their integration with EMRs and other clinical information systems. * Familiar with clinical terminologies, interoperability standards, and pharmacy informatics best practice to support safe and efficient medication management. * Demonstrated experience in data cleansing, validation, transformation and analysis, ideally within a health, pharmacy, or medicines‑related context. * Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik). * Experience with SQL, Python, R or similar analytical tools. * Expertise in health informatics, particularly related to medicines management is desirable.
