About the Role Charlie Health is seeking passionate and driven second-year master's students in mental health programs (such as Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related fields) to join our dynamic virtual care team for their clinical practicum or internship experience. As a clinical practicum student at Charlie Health, you'll gain direct experience working with high-acuity clients in a virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) setting. Under the close supervision of one of our experienced therapists, you'll develop your clinical skills through a variety of client interactions and treatment modalities. Responsibilities * Participate in group, individual, and family sessions under the supervision of an experienced clinician * Observe and co-facilitate therapeutic interventions using evidence-based modalities * Attend clinical supervision meetings and engage in reflective practice to support growth and development * Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, coordinated care * Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional standards * Engage in ongoing learning and training opportunities related to trauma-informed care, telehealth best practices, and working with high-acuity populations Requirements * Enrollment in a master's-level program in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related discipline (see list below for examples) * + Students should be in the second year of their master's program by the time the practicum or internship begins, meeting eligibility requirements to start clinical hours. * Interest in working with high-acuity populations and providing trauma-informed care * Strong communication and organizational skills Note: * Charlie Health cannot guarantee that our internship program meets specific school, college, or university requirements. As a member of the Burn ICU, you will care for acute burns and assist with the reconstructive needs of burn survivors and people injured from fire, chemical, scalds, electrical burns and skin loss as a result from disease. It is a 16 bed unit providing all levels of care for adults with burn injuries and general level of care for pediatric patients. The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner.Essential Job functions: Provide safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit making age-appropriate adjustments as needed. Monitor patients’ conditions and provide updates to the health care team. Provide direct and indirect care to patients with and without medical/surgical complications to meet their comfort, personal hygiene and safety needs. Provide care in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care and deliver per VCUHS Nursing and Hospital policy and procedure. Ensure assigned clinical location is maintained as a safe, clean, stocked environment to facilitate meeting patient needs and unit/healthcare team functioning. Maintain supplies, educational material, equipment, sterilization of supplies, instruments and the environment to promote quality, safe patient care outcomes (as applicable). Contribute to the patient experience by accurately identifying the patient, by observing safety goals and reporting to a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurses regarding the patient’s physical and mental responses to the plan of care or any incident posing harm or threat to a patient. Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by VCUHS policy Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Attend all mandatory in-services and trainings and adhere to online training requirements. Ensure patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives. Establish and maintain courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other members of health care team; demonstrate sensitivity and awareness to needs of patients, visitors and co-workers and respond promptly to verbal and/or written instructions. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care. Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service. Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary. Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives. Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
