Engineer (Mechanical)

Introduction A leading organisation is seeking an Engineer (Mechanical) to join its Process Optimisation and Technology team in Sasolburg. This opportunity is suited to an experienced engineering professional who can lead mechanical design and equipment installations, improve operational reliability, and manage projects while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and implement mechanical equipment and oversee installations and commissioning. Drive process optimisation and continuous improvement by identifying performance deviations, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. Conduct risk assessments, facilitate design reviews and participate in HAZOP studies to ensure safe engineering practices. Manage engineering projects, budgets, resources, equipment procurement and EPC activities. Provide technical support to production and collaborate with stakeholders on equipment, instrumentation, piping and valve requirements. Monitor equipment reliability, quality and project execution against required standards. Prepare capital expenditure proposals, technical reports and presentations, including cost-benefit analyses. Minimum Requirements Matric with Mathematics and Science. BSc in Mechanical Engineering. 6–10 years of industrial experience. ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration will be an advantage. Six Sigma Green Belt certification will be an advantage. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, CMMS and maintenance software. Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with a commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
