SHOP MANAGER (MARINE & SCUBA INDUSTRY)

A leading dive center and instructor training facility in Cape Town is looking for an energetic, results\-driven **Shop Manager** to oversee daily retail and shop operations. This role bridges hands\-on retail management, high\-touch customer consultation, administrative oversight, and dive logistics support. The ideal candidate will be proactive and business\-minded, capable of driving retail sales, opening new revenue streams, and maintaining high standards of store presentation, inventory control, and customer satisfaction. **Key Responsibilities** * **Retail Operations \& Sales:** Manage daily point\-of\-sale (POS) procedures, cash\-ups, float balancing, customer equipment consultations, course advice, and active sales generation. * **Administration \& Finance:** Prepare accurate quotes and invoices, track outstanding payments, maintain client/supplier records, and handle daily transaction filing (experience with Pastel or similar accounting software is a distinct advantage). * **Inventory \& Supplier Management:** Process supplier deliveries, maintain stock thresholds, handle reordering and consignment stock reconciliations, and keep price lists current. * **Dive Operations Support:** Assist with dive trip bookings, schedule logistics, organize rental gear prep, and coordinate with instruction and servicing departments. * **Logistics \& Brand Promotion:** Oversee local stock pickups and courier drop\-offs, and assist with social media content generation to support sales and brand outreach. * **Store Presentation:** Maintain an organized, professional, clean, and welcoming retail showroom. **Requirements \& Experience** **Diving \& Technical Knowledge** * **Certification:** Minimum Open Water Diver certification required; **PADI Instructor** (or equivalent professional rating) is strongly advantageous. * **Industry Expertise:** Sound understanding of recreational and technical scuba equipment, including high\-end underwater imaging housings, dive computers, life\-support systems, dive planning, and safety protocols. **Professional \& Technical Skills** * **Work Experience:** Minimum **3 to 4 years** in dive retail, dive center operations, or customer\-facing administrative management. * **Systems \& Software:** Hands\-on experience with POS platforms, basic bookkeeping/cash management, and MS Office (Excel, Word, Email). * **Licensing:** Valid driver’s license for local errands, supplier collections, and deliveries. **Key Competencies** * **Commercial Drive:** Results\-focused mindset with the ability to identify sales opportunities and manage administrative follow\-ups efficiently. * **Meticulous Accuracy:** High attention to detail in financial transactions, invoicing, and stock reconciliations. * **Self\-Reliance:** Proven ability to organize daily priorities and meet operational targets without constant oversight. * **Team Synergy:** Collaborative attitude to work closely across retail, technical servicing, accounting, and instructional teams. **How to Apply** Interested candidates who meet the above criteria and share a passion for marine lifestyle and retail excellence are invited to submit an updated CV \& supporting documents detailing their relevant experience.
