DevOps Engineer

**Purpose of the role** The DevOps Engineer works within the DevOps team to develop, maintain and support SA Home Loans' IT systems, in the Cloud (and on\-premises). The role keeps systems technologically up to date, makes sure the business has the best IT solutions for its needs, and supports our software development teams and development environments. **Key Responsibilities** * Be part of a DevOps culture that emphasises collaboration and communication with software developers and IT Operations, while automating software delivery and infrastructure changes. * Work with stakeholders to identify and implement the most suitable solutions, both cloud\-based and on\-premises. * Help development teams take their code through the delivery lifecycle, across multiple environments, to production. * Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, environment and deployment issues in a timely manner. * Design and implement metrics and monitoring that let teams resolve issues before they affect the business. * Remove repetitive or error\-prone tasks through automation. * Ensure critical systems have a redundancy plan in place. * Ensure provisioned systems are used efficiently and have the capacity to meet business requirements. * Ensure the security and compliance of our infrastructure and applications, following best practice and industry standards. * Define and document best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance, and keep documentation current. * Share knowledge with development teams and coach them on practices that make them more efficient. * Participate in technology design and selection sessions, and exercise technical consistency within the IT environment. * Continuously improve existing processes, systems and infrastructure, and support the department's Agile practices. **Minimum Requirements** **1\.Education** * Matric. * A BSc in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering, a BCom in Business Information Systems, or a high\-quality equivalent diploma. **2\.Experience** * 5\+ years' working experience in an Information Technology environment. * Strong AWS experience (SysOps or DevOps certifications are beneficial) * Experience administering Kubernetes (EKS) * Experience in a fast\-paced Agile environment. **3\.Beneficial** AWS, SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer certifications. * SecOps experience. * Experience with VMware virtualisation.
