MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Introduction JCB Gearvest (Pty) Ltd is looking to employ a mechanical engineer to join their dynamic team in January 2027. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance and improvement of mechanical systems, machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations. The role involves providing technical support, solving engineering problems and ensuring that projects and maintenance activities meet the required quality, cost and safety standards. Duties & Responsibilities Design, develop and modify mechanical components, equipment and systems. Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications and design calculations. Analyse mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions. Provide technical support to production, maintenance and workshop teams. Plan and oversee mechanical installation, repairs, maintenance and improvement projects. Ensure machinery and equipment operate safely and efficiently. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Conduct inspections and ensure that work complies with engineering standards, specifications and safety requirements. Liaise with suppliers, contractors and customers regarding technical matters. Monitor project progress, costs, deadlines and quality standards. Prepare technical reports, maintenance records and project documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company procedures and health and safety requirements. Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause investigations and the implementation of preventative measures. Desired Experience, Qualification & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification. Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial or engineering environment. Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications. Knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, maintenance and engineering principles. Computer literacy, including relevant engineering design software. Strong technical and analytical skills Attention to detail and accuracy Package & Remuneration R40,000 – R60,000 gross per month, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
