Physiatrist

Job summary * The physiatrist works with patients of all ages who have conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles. * They lead an interdisciplinary team to diagnose, manage, and treat physical impairments and disabilities. * The primary goal is to help patients maximize their functional ability and independence. Key responsibilities * Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine the causes of physical impairments and develop individualized rehabilitation plans. * Create and manage treatment plans that may include medication, therapeutic exercise, injections, and assistive devices. * Lead and coordinate care with a team of healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech\-language pathologists. * Perform specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which can include: + Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies + Ultrasound\-guided and fluoroscopy\-guided injections + Spasticity treatments (Botulinum toxin injections) * Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment plans, and self\-management strategies. * Track patient progress, modifying treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes. * Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with all relevant regulations. Category Provider Exempt/Non\-Exempt Exempt Location Long Island Orthopedic Surgery \& Sports Medicine \- Orthopedics Full\-Time/Part\-Time Full\-Time Position Requirements * M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school. * Completion of a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. * Board\-certified or board\-eligible by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). * Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in New York State. * **F**ellowship training in neurorehabilitation, pain medicine, or sports medicine preferred. * Previous experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting preferred.
