Chief Mechanical Engineer

**Chief Mechanical Engineer \| Start up \| Optics** I'm looking for an experienced Chief Mechanical Engineer to take technical ownership of a complex, cutting\-edge engineering programme. This is a hands\-on technical leadership role where you'll help shape the mechanical architecture, lead engineering development and take sophisticated technology from early\-stage R\&D through to real\-world deployment. Working alongside talented engineers and scientists across optics, photonics, electronics and systems engineering, you'll tackle some fascinating multidisciplinary engineering challenges. **What are we looking for?** * Significant experience in mechanical engineering and complex hardware development. * A strong background in optics, photonics, lasers or precision electromechanical systems. * Experience developing high\-power or thermally demanding systems. * Strong knowledge of structures, mechanisms, materials, thermal management and precision engineering. * Experience developing mechanical infrastructure for complex laser or optical platforms. * A strong systems engineering mindset and experience working across multiple disciplines. * Experience designing hardware for demanding operating environments. * Advanced CAD skills, ideally Siemens NX or similar. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying close to the technology, solving difficult engineering problems and leading development without stepping away from the technical detail.
