We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Scribe/Ophthalmic Assistant to support a busy ophthalmology practice. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately documenting patient consultations in real time while providing remote clinical and administrative support. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality. ### Key Responsibilities May Include: Accurately document patient histories, examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans during live or recorded consultations. Update and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) in accordance with clinical and compliance standards. Review, edit, and finalize clinical notes to ensure accuracy and completeness. Record prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up instructions as directed by the physician. Support remote coordination of patient care, including referrals and documentation. Assist with administrative and workflow tasks to support daily practice operations. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies. ### What We’re Looking For: Proven experience as a Medical Scribe, Ophthalmic Assistant, or in a similar healthcare support role. Strong knowledge of medical terminology; ophthalmology experience is highly advantageous. Proficiency with EMR systems. Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information. ### Other Requirements: High-speed fiber internet (minimum 50–100 Mbps). Own laptop/desktop with external monitor. Stable backup power supply. Quality headset with a built-in microphone. Availability: Monday–Friday during U.S. time zones.

SUMMARY The primary goal of a Scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Physician they are working for. This employee allows the Doctor to focus on what is most important, the patient. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the Physician. Responsible for the operation of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) of patients. Demonstrate a basic understanding of examination and procedure codes (ICD-9 codes) when inputting into the EMR system. Ensure that accurate procedure coding/charges for all procedures/drugs for all patients and correct diagnosis codes are used. Anticipate Physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic. Open and close exam rooms as needed. Help with testing and keep rooms filled to maintain flow of the clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of the duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organization ability, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated are especially important. Must be willing to travel between offices. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations. Efficient in using EMR and ability to accurately record information. Good typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills. Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team. Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when communicating patient information. Provides excellent patient care and is energetic and empathetic with patients. Consistently displays positive rapport with fellow employees. Cooperates with supervisory staff and Physicians. Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification is preferred, but not required SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY Requires proficient keyboarding skills, use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
