At the heart of Hastings is deep risk insight – continually improving how we assess, segment and price risk through data and analytics. The Role: The risk pricing manager will lead a team of 2 analysts with the aim of delivering our profit and growth targets for home. Key Accountabilities: Prioritising team resource and workstack items to help achieve our home profit and growth targets Analysing various data sources (including loss, policy, quote and market data), to identify opportunities to improve our risk pricing. Developing \& delivering new insight, including the integration of new data, new innovative techniques and ways of working Working closely with Actuarial, Data Science, Underwriting, Data Engineering, Account Management, Retail and Counter Fraud / Digital teams Critically review technical models produced by actuaries and data scientists Analyse the above models to determine the optimal way to combine these model outputs to improve the pricing algorithm Analyse the models to identify segments where prices can be improved Create and maintain tools that enable us to source new pricing leads on an automated basis Representing the home team on various underwriting projects to generate value for the wider business Support the team through peer reviews, coaching and mentoring Ensure that we are meeting customers’ fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes for our customers. Band 4, with 2 direct reports, but flexible on this depending on candidate. What we’re looking for: Strong general insurance background/knowledge preferable Strong Analysis and coding experience. Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment] Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 5+ years of proven experience as a Functional Tester / Software Test Analyst in enterprise-scale environments. Strong hands-on expertise in manual functional testing across complex web-based, client-server, and enterprise applications. Demonstrated ability to analyse business, functional, and technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive test strategies. Proven experience in test case design, test scenario creation, and test execution using structured testing techniques. Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models. Strong experience in system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and end-to-end testing. Proven expertise in defect identification, root-cause analysis, prioritisation, tracking, and reporting. Hands-on experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, HP ALM, or equivalent. Experience supporting and coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and working closely with business users. Strong understanding of test coverage, traceability matrices, and quality metrics. Ability to perform impact analysis for system changes and enhancements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience working collaboratively with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple test cycles, priorities, and deadlines in fast-paced delivery environments. Strong documentation skills including test plans, test cases, test execution reports, and defect summaries.
