Your Role as Assistant Professor of Kinesiology The Department of Kinesiology at Canisius University invites applications for a teaching faculty position to begin in the Fall 2026 Semester. This position is long-term and non-tenure track at this time but has the potential to be converted to a tenure-track position in the future. The Department of Kinesiology, housed in the School of Behavioral and Health Studies, offers a fully online Master’s degree in Exercise Science, an Advanced Certificate in Sports Performance, two face-to-face Bachelor’s degrees in Health \& Wellness and Sports \& Exercise Health Care and a minor in Strength \& Conditioning. There are approximately 130 full- and part-time students in the programs and three core faculty members. Long-term faculty members are expected to participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advisement to students, and engage in service to the department, university, and community. What You Need to Succeed: ✔ Qualifications: PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Sports Medicine, or a closely related field required or must have degree completed within one year of the date of hire. Experience and licensure or certification from the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association or similar organization preferred. Teaching experience in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Sports Medicine, or a closely related field. Teaching and research interests may include global and community public health, exercise science, strength and conditioning or sports medicine. Preferred that applicants exhibit potential for publication of scholarly research in the fields of public health and/or kinesiology. Must possess strong identity as a teacher, scholar, and mentor with a record of active membership/engagement in exercise science related organizations.
