You will help build the user-facing software that allows analysts and decision-makers to search, process, visualize, and understand complex Earth observation data. This is a hands-on frontend engineering role for someone who enjoys building substantial client-side applications, designing clean component APIs, working with maps and geospatial visualization, and turning complex workflows into reliable and intuitive user interfaces. Role Highlights Location: Germany; Munich area preferred, remote work possible Type: Full-time Seniority: Mid to senior level; ideally 3+ years of relevant frontend engineering experience Language: Excellent English required; good German highly valued Compensation: Competitive salary package, tailored to experience and impact About TerraLens TerraLens is a fast-growing spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). We build software that transforms large volumes of Earth observation data into actionable intelligence to support political, strategic, and tactical decision-making. Our team brings over 20 years of experience in the analysis of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite data, and we are expanding TerraLens to integrate additional data sources and make complex geospatial information easier to search, process, visualize, and analyze. Our software is used operationally in the user segment of SAR satellite missions, supporting human-in-the-loop analysis workflows that require reliability, high-throughput data processing, and controlled operation in demanding on-premise and air-gapped environments. We are bootstrapped, profitable, and growing organically, allowing us to focus on long-term product quality, real customer value, and sustainable engineering. The Role In this role, you will help build and maintain the web applications and frontend libraries that make complex satellite and geospatial data usable for analysts and decision-makers. This is not a marketing website or generic dashboard role: you will work on data-heavy, map-based applications used in operational environments. You will build modern client-side React and TypeScript applications, develop reusable UI and visualization components, integrate typed APIs, and collaborate closely with backend, geospatial, AI/ML, and domain experts to turn complex analysis workflows into reliable software. Depending on your experience and interests, the role can grow into broader ownership of frontend architecture, shared UI libraries, geospatial visualization components, and technical leadership of user-facing product development.
