Acupuncturist South Bay Movement \& Wellness is a wellness company specializing in movement and health through the use of physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, sports training, functional medicine and more under one roof. Founded in 2020, South Bay Movement \& Wellness is a 3,200 sqft meticulously designed brand new facility that includes private treatment rooms and a state of the art gym space. South Bay Movement \& Wellness is looking for enthusiastic wellness practitioners to join its starting team. We value driven individuals who can treat patients as part of the entire holistic team. Position: South Bay Movement \& Wellness is seeking a full time acupuncturist to join our start up team and join our West Islip location. This position offers the acupuncturist to work alongside chiropractic and physical therapy to fully enhance the patients outcomes. COMPETENCIES: Expected to be fully capable of treating all acupuncture scope of practice Strong communication skills Ability to multi-task and manage patients Intermediate knowledge of medical billing and insurance process Strong time management skills Motivated self starter Have an active New York acupuncture license. Be willing and eager to learn and adopt different styles of treatment Be positive, friendly, caring, dependable, and a hard working team player Responsibilities (these may vary): Participate in future staff development mentoring, education, and guidance. Willingness to participate in educational initiatives for staff, community and professional audiences Perform examination and treatment of various musculoskeletal pathologies of the spine and extremities Integration with other wellness disciplines Formulation and education of a comprehensive plan of care Ability to treat with local acupuncture (for acute, localized injuries) Knowledge of utilizing cupping, electro-acupuncture Trigger point acupuncture/dry needling Palpation skills, ability to identify muscles and have anatomy knowledge Identify precise locations on a patient’s body where needles should be inserted, or where electrical or heat stimulation is to be applied Explain acupuncture procedures to patients and prepare them for treatment \EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION 3+ years’ experience \ Masters and licensure in Acupuncture Clinical expertise emphasizing differential diagnosis CEUs involving sports medicine acupuncture or trigger point acupuncture Expertise or certification in a subspecialty area preferred Area’s of interest: pediatrics, womens health, sports medicince PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit; use hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.
