The Senior Software Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, testing, and debugging software for both enhancements and new product development. This position involves building and maintaining core systems, including operating systems, compilers, networking components, databases, and web-based applications, and ensuring their performance, scalability, and reliability. The engineer also evaluates software compatibility with hardware environments and contributes to architectural decisions that optimize system integration and efficiency across platforms. Position Reports to: Sr. Software Engineering Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ------------------------------------------ Understand end-user requirements. Write commercial/enterprise-grade software. Provide input on designs for software enhancements and new products. Ability to identify the presence of code Document and communicate on technical topics without direction. Work under limited direction of a manager and/or team lead to implementing software enhancements, correcting defects, and/or creating new products. Understand hardware and software systems. Proficient in programming while working in a team. Works well in a team. Team-oriented, collaborative, accountable, and dependable. Self-directed learning of the application subject matter Required Qualifications: ---------------------------- Proven software engineering expertise, 8+ years in software development Proficient in one or more programming languages (TypeScript, C++, Rust) Proficient on Mainframe environment Proficiency in Agile Tools (Jira, GitHub, VSCode). Understands the concepts of data structures and algorithms. Able to write high-quality code with minimal support. Good understanding of trade-offs in solving problems that have variable levels of complexity. Understanding memory allocation and management mechanisms, security mechanisms, processing allocation mechanisms, and currency control of target operating systems. Preferred Qualifications: ----------------------------- Can-do attitude Solid understanding of SDLC and CI/CD processes, with experience writing code that includes comprehensive unit test coverage. Active contributor to one or more open-source projects. Experience working with the Federal Government in Australia Experience with distributed systems and enterprise-scale applications. Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern software architecture. Advanced degree (MBA or MS in Engineering). Manage and optimize Git repositories and branching strategies for efficient development workflows. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues to ensure system reliability. Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployments and performance. Implement DevSec Ops practices, including security scanning, vulnerability management and compliance monitoring across CI/CD pipelines. Required Qualifications: ---------------------------- 8+ years of software engineering experience Expertise in Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline automation. Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration. Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration, scaling, and deployment. Strong scripting skills in Groovy or similar languages. Solid understanding of Linux system administration and troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex, less-defined projects. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ensure proper versioning and dependency management. Establish best practices for publishing, retrieving, and archiving artifacts. Enforce dependency version control strategies (e.g., snapshot vs. release versions). Clean up unused or outdated artifacts to optimize storage. Design, develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or other automation tools. Automate artifact publishing and retrieval in build and deployment workflows. Troubleshoot build failures related to dependency issues. Optimize dependency resolution times and caching mechanisms. Preferred Qualifications: ----------------------------- Maintain Experience in maintaining build infrastructure, Jenkins build nodes and related tools, including compilers and runtime libraries on Windows, Linux and z/OS. Maintain security scan (Blackduck, Polaris) and code signing facilities on those build nodes. Strong technical background across Linux/Unix/Windows, mainframe environments, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containers, REST APIs, and network security. Skilled in authentication technologies (SSO, MFA, EntraID, OKTA) and scripting languages. In this role, the candidate supports sales teams by delivering demos, driving POCs, and building trusted customer relationships across EMEA and the DACH region. Acts as an ETX subject matter expert, mentors colleagues, and collaborates closely with regional and virtual sales engineering teams to help close new and existing business.
