Engineering Lead II - 12 months contract
As an Engineering Lead II, you will champion end-to-end technical governance, systems analysis, and solution architecture across core digital assets, portals, and cloud services. You will bridge high-level architectural strategy with low-level design execution, collaborating directly with software designers, stakeholders, and delivery teams to build future-proof, robust systems. The Tech Stack Deep-Dive Must-Haves: * Architecture \& Systems Design: 8+ years designing holistic, scalable enterprise software solutions, decomposing complex architectures, and managing non-functional requirements (security, reliability, scale). * Cloud \& DevOps Tooling: Hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines, modern tooling, and automated deployment practices in enterprise cloud environments. * Environments \& Infrastructure: Multi-operating system environments, web application architectures, production web portals, and relational/modern data models. * Education: Diploma or Degree (BSc Computer Science / BCom Information Systems or equivalent NQF Level 6+). Nice-to-Haves: * Certifications: TOGAF, ITIL, or related enterprise architecture/service delivery frameworks. * Engineering Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading an engineering chapter, driving code/design reviews, and standardizing development best practices. Key Responsibilities * Architect \& Future-Proof: Formulate, decompose, and govern robust, end-to-end technical solutions across multi-technology landscapes through architectural governance forums. * Design Execution: Translate high-level architectural blueprints into detailed lower-level software designs, guiding technical trade-offs between delivery speed, performance, and operational risk. * Elevate Engineering Standards: Contribute directly to the Engineering Lead Chapter, actively coaching and mentoring developers to upskill technical capabilities across cross-functional squads. * Drive Delivery \& Troubleshooting: Partner with product managers and lead troubleshooting efforts on complex system-level delivery blockers to maintain continuous production stability. Why Join Us? * High Technical Ownership: Steer architectural direction across critical enterprise initiatives with the freedom to challenge legacy constraints and innovate. * Culture of Continuous Learning: Benefit from structured chapter-based mentorship, dedicated growth paths, and sponsorship for continuous technical development. Impact at Scale: Design mission-critical systems that handle massive data throughput and directly impact millions of users across modern digital touchpoints
