The Enterprise Office of Access Management (EOAM) provides patient access-centric systems, capabilities and knowledge that enable the practice to execute on Mayo Clinic's access priorities and meet the needs of our patients. The EOAM Practice Partner Unit is responsible for co-management of patient access and provider capacity, utilizing access data to improve practice performance toward patient access targets and improvement initiatives, in collaboration with Practice Leadership. Senior Access Advisors provide analysis, interpretation, and recommendations at a local, departmental or site level. This role supports clinical division and department patient throughput by providing leadership in a team environment. They utilize data to proactively identify opportunities and recommendations for optimizing patient seen capacity, which is instrumental to Mayo Clinic’s financial plan. Senior Access Advisors are recognized and relied upon as trusted business advisors within patient access and provider capacity management and aid in navigation of the EOAM/OAM organization. Senior Access Advisors exhibit advanced investigational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. They possess advanced customer service skills and anticipate and address customer needs in a timely manner. They are proficient in business strategy and business planning principles and apply them to project work (areas may include but not limited to value proposition, mission/strategy, goals/objectives, technology assessments, funding, and management/administration). Senior Access Advisors at a senior level lead multidisciplinary teams evaluating strategic, operational, and financial aspects of patient throughput and provider capacity, which is critical to the Mayo mission. They identify, recommend, and implement transformational access solutions for departments and sites including applied analytics methods, new staffing models, organizational structures, workflow, and digital interventions. They have demonstrated business acumen as well as competencies in strategy, systems thinking, consultation, coaching and /or leadership. They handle and navigate ambiguous situations. Senior Access Advisors give direction to, mentor, coach, and train staff. Candidates must have the ability to utilize Tableau, Business Intelligence and Epic; and possess advanced Excel skills. An understanding of the healthcare industry is preferred. In addition to scheduled clinical and surgical responsibilities, the APP participates in the evaluation and management of acute orthopedic injuries presenting through the Emergency Department. The hospital is a Level III trauma center, providing exposure to urgent musculoskeletal care and reinforcing strong decision-making skills in acute settings. This role primarily supports a hand surgeon within a general orthopedic practice, with opportunities to cross-cover other orthopedic subspecialties to broaden clinical experience. The position is intentionally designed to allow APPs to build deep specialty knowledge while working in a supportive academic culture that emphasizes teamwork, surgeon accessibility, and continuous professional growth. A structured onboarding period of approximately 3–6 months is provided, based on prior experience, to ensure a strong foundation in both clinical and surgical responsibilities. The work is intellectually challenging and fast-paced, yet supported by a cohesive team environment that prioritizes mentorship and patient-centered care. Participation in the orthopedic call schedule is an integral component of the role. Call responsibilities are shared evenly among providers (approximately 1:6) and include weekday and weekend home call. During daytime hours, the APP serves as first call. Overnight, the APP provides first call coverage for hospital needs and patient phone calls, while surgeons are first call for the ED and transfers. The call structure is designed to maintain high-quality patient care while promoting provider sustainability. The APP will join a team of 5 Advanced Practice Providers, 6 orthopedic surgeons, a podiatry team, and non-operative specialists within the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine department. The department is known for its strong team culture, collaborative practice model, and commitment to APP professional development.
