Job Advert Business Development Manager – Remote working Job Purpose: To drive business growth and development through building and maintaining strategic relationships with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and Local Authorities (LAs), securing new contracts and maximising referral opportunities within the care sector. Key Responsibilities: Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key decision-makers within ICBs and Local Authorities Build relationships with Court of Protection deputies, professional deputies and advocacy services Act as the primary point of contact for commissioning teams and contract managers Attend relevant meetings, forums and networking events to represent the organisation and identify new opportunities Contract Development and Management Lead on the identification, pursuit and securing of new contracts with ICBs and LAs. Lead on nurturing current and creating new customer relationships with professional deputies working under the Court of Protection deputies. Contribute to tender responses and contract negotiations Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure smooth contract mobilisation Referrals Management Develop and implement strategies to increase referral volumes from existing and new sources Build relationships with referral pathways and key influencers, including Court of Protection deputies and professional deputy firms Monitor referral trends and identify opportunities for growth Work with internal teams to ensure efficient referral processing and positive outcomes Ensure appropriate processes are in place for managing referrals from deputyship arrangements Personal Health Budgets and Direct Payments Develop strategies to attract service users funded through Personal Health Budgets (PHBs) and Direct Payments Build relationships with brokers, support planners and individual budget holders Work with Court of Protection deputies managing personalised budgets on behalf of service users Ensure the organisation's services are visible and accessible to those using personalised budgets Support the development of flexible service offerings that meet the needs of PHB and Direct Payment users Market Intelligence and Strategy Monitor commissioning intentions and market trends within the care sector Provide regular reports on business development activities, pipeline and market intelligence Contribute to the development of the organisation's business development strategy Identify emerging opportunities and potential risks in the marketplace, including shifts toward personalised care funding Collaboration and Communication Work closely with operational, clinical and finance teams to develop competitive service propositions Ensure clear communication between business development and service delivery teams Support marketing and communication activities to enhance the organisation's profile Person Specification Essential Criteria: Experience Proven experience working directly with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and/or Local Authorities in a care sector context Demonstrable experience of contract development, negotiation or management Experience of referrals management and understanding of care sector referral pathways Understanding of Personal Health Budgets and Direct Payments processes and how they operate in practice Experience working with Court of Protection deputies and understanding of deputyship arrangements Track record of successful business development and achieving growth targets Experience building and maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders and commissioners Knowledge Understanding of ICB and LA commissioning processes and cycles Knowledge of personalised care funding mechanisms including PHBs and Direct Payments Understanding of the Court of Protection deputy role and responsibilities in care decision-making Knowledge of the care sector landscape and current policy developments Awareness of contractual and regulatory requirements in social care and health services Understanding of Mental Capacity Act and best interests decision-making processes Skills Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations Ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level Commercial acumen and strategic thinking Self-motivated with strong organisational and time management skills Sensitivity and professionalism when working with vulnerable individuals and their representatives Personal Attributes Professional and credible in senior-level interactions Resilient and able to work under pressure Collaborative team player Results-oriented with a proactive approach Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle Desirable Criteria: Experience across multiple care sector settings (e.g., domiciliary care, residential care, supported living) Experience in working within the medico legal industry with catastrophically injured clients. Experience working with brokers, support planners, professional deputy firms and individual budget holders Understanding of health and social care integration Experience with CRM systems and business development software Knowledge of tender writing and formal procurement processes * Ability to attend occasional industry events outside of standard working hours
