\For the 2026-2027 School Year\ Job Title: Special Education/Student Services Coordinator Additional $2500 stipend for Master's Degree. Additional $6820 stipend of National Board Certified. Reports to: School Principal Term of Employment: 198 contract days Follows the school academic calendar, with 5 additional contract days before teachers return to campus, and 5 additional contract days to be scheduled by the Principal. Work Schedule: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm JOB OVERVIEW The Special Education/Student Services Coordinator oversees and implements a rigorous academic and behavioral program to ensure all students, particularly those with diverse learning needs, achieve success. This role functions as both a lead instructor and a program coordinator, ensuring school-wide compliance with state and federal mandates (IDEA, Title I, ESSA). By fostering a growth mindset and coordinating tiered support services, the Lead establishes effective rapport with colleagues, parents, and community agencies to build a collaborative environment that promotes lifelong learning and equity. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Program Oversight \& Compliance: Manage Title I, IDEA, and 504 programs; ensure alignment with Arizona Department of Education (ADE) regulations and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Instructional Leadership: Create and implement individualized education programs; develop lesson plans and instructional materials adapted to the unique needs of students in both inclusive and small-group settings. Data-Driven Decision Making: Lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student data (DIBELS, benchmark testing, Tiered Interventions) to inform instructional decisions and monitor the school’s Integrated Action Plan. Case Management \& Coordination: Oversee the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 plans; coordinate with contracted providers (Speech, OT, BCBA) to ensure effective service delivery. Staff Development \& Supervision: Under the direction of the Principal, supervise and train instructional assistants; provide staff development on behavioral, social, and academic interventions and special education best practices including inclusion of students in the least restrictive environment. Communication \& Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between teachers, administration, and families regarding program compliance, student progress, and parent involvement activities. ESSENTIAL TASKS Assessment \& Monitoring: Organize assessments, input data, and track individual student growth to maintain permanent academic and attendance records. Classroom Management: Establish a learning atmosphere that meets the physical and psychological requirements of students, maintaining fair and impartial discipline. Professional Advocacy: Attend ADE meetings and professional development to remain current on federal/state requirements and deadlines. Safety \& Welfare: Take reasonable precautions to protect student safety; report incidents (e.g., suspected abuse or substance issues) according to school policy and state law. Administrative Support: Assist in the development of the school budget related to Title I expenditures and requisition necessary instructional aids and materials. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of special education law, ESSA, and the principles of "Least Restrictive Environment." Instructional Mastery: Advanced understanding of teaching methods for at-risk students and those with diverse learning abilities. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret educational data and write complex reports/plans. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to facilitate difficult meetings and problem-solve with parents and staff while maintaining strict confidentiality. Organization: Strong ability to manage multiple deadlines, coordinate schedules, and submit compliance reports on time. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or equivalent (Master’s preferred). Certification: Valid Arizona Special Education Certification and Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. Endorsements: Minimum of a Provisional SEI or ESL Endorsement. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience, with documented experience working with Special Education, EL, and Title I students. Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in significant standing, walking, and moving; ability to lift or reach as required by the classroom environment. Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
