Software Engineer – Contract to Hire Company: Prism Software Employment Type: Contract to Hire Compensation: $65/hr Location: Remote position; anywhere within U.S. About Prism Software Prism Software manufactures and markets document and advanced workflow management software used by medium-to-large corporations. Our applications are used for electronic content management, advanced business process workflow, automated document and data processing, and AI-based data capture. We serve a wide range of industries including healthcare, legal, corporate, banking and finance, manufacturing, and government. About the Role We’re looking for a versatile and experienced Software Engineer to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting our existing web and Windows applications while also contributing to the development of new features. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment and takes pride in writing clean, well-documented code. What You’ll Do Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing web and Windows applications Develop new features across the full application stack Build and support Windows desktop applications, including UI and services Write and optimize SQL queries and manage database interactions Prepare and maintain technical documentation to ensure long-term codebase clarity and sustainability Promote best practices in automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, and secure development Ensure software solutions are scalable, maintainable, performant, and user-centered Incorporate user feedback and operational insights to drive continuous product improvement Contribute hands-on to critical areas of the codebase as needed Required Qualifications BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience Strong proficiency in C# backend development Solid experience with JavaScript, React, SQL, T-SQL, and relational databases Experience with Windows development, including desktop UI and Windows services Solid experience with writing APIs and web services Experience with multitenancy implementation – specifically, conversion from single-tenant codebase to multitenant codebase Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices Proven track record of developing and shipping new features Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation Strong background working in Agile/Scrum environments Employment Requirements Applicants must be a legal resident of the United States. Remote Working: Must reside and work within a U.S. state or territory. Comprehensive benefits package available upon conversion to full-time employee status. Employment Type This is a Contract-to-Hire position. The initial engagement will be on a contract basis, with the possibility — but not the guarantee — of conversion to a full-time employee role based on business needs, performance, and mutual fit.
