Senior Mental Health Practitioner - LPMHSS
The Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS) in Powys is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate and professional Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our clinical team. This is a key role in delivering the five core functions of LPMHSS supporting people experiencing mild-moderate and severe stable mental health difficulties through:o The provision of comprehensive assessment of mental health and wellbeing.o The delivery of brief, outcome-focused and evidence-based psychosocial interventions.o The provision of guidance, advice and signposting to service users and carers.o The provision of guidance and advice to primary care providers.o Referral onto secondary services where appropriate which might improve or prevent a deterioration in the individuals mental health. o This post is integrated into a multidisciplinary team comprising Mental Health Nurses, Accredited Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychological Therapists to deliver high quality, timely, safe, person-centred, equitable, holistic and effective and psychosocial assessments and interventions. The service is seeking a professional with additional training and experience in evidence-based psychosocial interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Therapy (incl. EMDR and Trauma focused CBT), and Brief Solution Focused Therapy and/or with an interest and commitment to undertake further training in psychological approaches. Main duties of the job Enhance the psychological care of clients within the Local Primary Mental Health Support Service, providing Part 1 mental health assessments, formulation, and evidence-based interventions to people experiencing mild-moderate and severe enduring and stable mental health issues. Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, brief psychological interventions and provide consultation to primarycare and other professionals across health and social care. Working collaboratively, support individuals with mild to moderate and stable severe mental health needs, promoting recovery and facilitating access to appropriate care pathways. Assist in clinically related administration, such as supporting LPMHSS screening and allocation processes, and contributing to the development and implementation of audits/service evaluations/research projects, teaching and project work. The role will be based in Newtown in north Powys and the successful candidate will be expected to offer face to face assessment and intervention clinics from one or more of our LPMHSS clinical bases across Powys. Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential • Professional qualification, obtained in Health or Social Care that led to professional registration held with NMC, HCPC, or Social Care Wales (as defined to be able to undertake assessments under Part 1 Mental Health Measure) • Evidence of postgraduate training in at least one psychological model/approach/intervention such as CBT, ACT, or Solution-Focused Therapy • Knowledge of/training in psychological formulation, intervention planning, and delivering brief evidence-based psychological interventions • Knowledge and understanding of Local Primary Mental Health Support Service • Training in risk assessment and risk management Desirable • Evidence of postgraduate training in cognitive behavioural therapy • WARRN training • Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health Legislation in Wales Experience Essential • Conducting Part 1 Mental Health Assessments • Extensive post qualification working within a community setting such as primary mental health / secondary mental health services / IAPT / Talking Therapies / psychology and psychological therapy service • Providing evidence-based and recovery-focused psychological support / interventions for common mental health issues Desirable • Experience of developing and delivering group based clinical interventions • Evidence of competent delivery of low intensity CBT for common mental health disorders • Experience of supervision or teaching within a healthcare context Skills and Aptitude Essential • Ability to reflect on own practice and to use learned knowledge to change and adapt • Able to make decisions autonomously and delegate work appropriately • Ability to recognise limits to professional competence and to seek advice, consultation and supervision, where appropriate • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills • Ability to de-escalate/calm situations when faced with verbal and/or physical aggression • Professional attitude to work and team members • Ability to adhere to service and Health Board policies and protocols • Ability to maintain effective working relationships • Highest level of integrity • Commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice Other Essential • Ability to work reliably and consistently independently • Good interpersonal skills, sensitivity, tolerance, and enthusiasm • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams • IT literate with keyboard skills Employer details Employer name Powys Teaching Health Board Address The Park Newtown SY16 2NZ Any attachments will be accessible after you click to apply. 070-NMR143-1025-B
