Science/Health Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION The High School Science and Health Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards\-based instruction in science and health\-related courses, with flexibility to teach Anatomy \& Physiology, Medical Terminology, Sports Medicine, and Health. The teacher supports students interested in health sciences and medical career pathways while promoting scientific understanding, physical wellness, and healthy decision\-making. JOB OBJECTIVE * Provide appropriate educational instruction to students assigned * Abide by the philosophy of district policy and rules and regulations as determined by the Board of Education and administration JOB REQUIREMENTS * Valid comprehensive science teaching license with an approved Health Education endorsement or commitment to obtain Health Education certification as required and defined by the State of Ohio. * Knowledge of courses of study and instructional strategies * BCI/FBI Check JOB LOCATION * Building as assigned by Superintendent; classroom as assigned by Building Principal EQUIPMENT UTILIZED * Computers * Projectors and other media equipment JOB FUNCTIONS Essential * Maintain necessary certification * Prepare lesson plans that are consistent with adopted graded courses of study * Implement instructional strategies as defined by course of study * Maintain student discipline and classroom management * Observe and communicate student progress * Be involved in school\-related functions for the benefit of students * Attempt to meet the needs of all students * Participate in IEP/IAT/SST/PBIS etc. meetings when appropriate * Participate in professional development * Perform all related duties as assigned * Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of this job description are the following essential physical requirements: + Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations + Ability to stand for extended periods of time + Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students + Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels + Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversations + Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl + Ability to lift 50 pounds + Ability to carry 25 pounds + Ability to operate office/computer equipment + Ability to reach in all directions * Other related duties as assigned
