**Department Overview**

Our **high\-energy, fast\-paced 30\-bed Surgical \& Orthopedic Unit** specializes in caring for a diverse range of medical and post\-operative patients, including but not limited to:
* Orthopedic procedures (knees, hips, shoulders)
* General surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resections)
* Bariatric surgery
* Sepsis, pancreatitis, and stable pneumothorax
Our nurse\-to\-patient ratio averages **1:6**, supported by a strong team of **Patient Care Associates (PCAs)**. The unit is known for its **teamwork, compassion, dedication, and clinical excellence** — making it a great place to learn, grow, and make a difference every day.
**Position Overview:**

Work **alongside skilled RNs and LPNs** to help our patients achieve their highest level of wellness through personalized care.
**What You'll Do:**

**Patient Care Associate (PCA) Responsibilities:**
* Take and document vital signs in electronic medical records
* Assist patients with meals, bathing, toileting, mobility, and transport
* Provide clerical support as needed
**Growth Opportunity — Become a Patient Care Technician (PCT):**
* Perform PCA duties plus:
* Phlebotomy \& blood cultures
* Enteral feeding, wound care
* IV and Foley catheter removal
* Trach care and suctioning
**Training \& Development:**

✅ Our **accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program** offers hands\-on, comprehensive training
✅ New hires complete a **175\-hour training program** as part of orientation (no prior experience needed!)
✅ **BLS certification** required within one month of hire
✅ Complete PCA competencies within 3 months to stay on the team
**What We’re Looking For:**

* High school diploma or GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrollment in healthcare programs
* No prior experience required — we provide full training!
* Physical ability to lift/push 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physical patient care tasks
* Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
