**The Opportunity** A respected, member\-driven business organization in San Mateo County is seeking a dynamic, visionary **President \& Chief Executive Officer (CEO)** to serve as its chief staff executive and strategic leader. This is a high\-impact leadership role with an established organization dedicated to advancing a strong business climate, supporting economic vitality, and convening leaders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The CEO will partner closely with a highly engaged Board of Directors, city leadership, and regional partners to shape strategy, strengthen financial sustainability, expand member value, and serve as the organization’s public ambassador. **About the Organization** *(Confidential)* The organization represents a diverse network of **300\+ member businesses**, ranging from innovative technology firms to locally owned small businesses that are central to the community. Strategic priorities include: * Attracting and retaining businesses * Activating and revitalizing business districts * Advancing workforce development and civic engagement * Convening stakeholders to address policy and economic challenges **Key Responsibilities** **Strategic Leadership \& Board Partnership** * Execute the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan * Partner with the Board on governance, strategy, and organizational effectiveness * Provide timely analysis, recommendations, and reporting **External Relations \& Advocacy** * Serve as chief spokesperson and brand ambassador * Build strong relationships with business leaders, elected officials, and regional partners * Lead advocacy and public policy initiatives aligned with Board priorities **Financial Stewardship \& Operations** * Drive revenue growth through diversified funding streams * Provide fiscal leadership, including budgeting and long\-term planning * Ensure sound internal controls and operational systems * Lead and mentor staff, contractors, and volunteers **Membership Value \& Engagement** * Oversee membership recruitment, retention, and engagement * Ensure programs, services, and events deliver measurable value * Position the organization as a trusted convener and thought leader **Ideal Candidate Profile** **Experience \& Education** * Bachelor’s degree preferred * Minimum **10 years of progressive senior leadership experience** * Prior experience in a chamber of commerce, nonprofit, trade association, or economic development organization strongly preferred * Proven experience working with boards, elected officials, and diverse stakeholders **Leadership Competencies** * Strategic, visionary leader with strong execution skills * Exceptional communicator and confident public speaker * Politically astute, ethical, and relationship\-oriented * Strong business development, revenue growth, and fundraising experience **Personal Attributes** * Forward\-thinking and adaptable * Results\-driven and relationship\-focused * Collaborative, trusted, and open to feedback Job Type: Full\-time Pay: $150,000\.00 \- $175,000\.00 per year Benefits: * Paid time off * Retirement plan Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Mateo, CA 94401
