Notify caregiver of critical values and designated reportable results according to protocol with appropriate documentation. Adhere to protocols for identifying, correcting and reporting result errors. Complete all necessary documentation i.e., occurrence reports, risk management reports. Complete Hand\-off communication, according to departmental protocol. Demonstrate independent judgment and decision\-making skills in the performance of routine and complex procedures, evaluation of patient results, and problem solving within job responsibilities. Review and resolve incomplete/pending lists as required. Take appropriate action to ensure timely completion of work. Prioritize tasks to ensure accurate completion of assigned work within acceptable time frame. Organize work and maintains work area to enable transition between employees. Review and release results accurately within expected time frame. Perform, evaluate, and record QC within the time frame specified for particular laboratory test, identify problems and initiate problem solving and document course of action. Notify the appropriate person of unresolved, out\-of\-control, discrepant, or unexpected QC results before continuing with patient testing. Perform, evaluate, and record instrument maintenance following established protocol and schedule. Adhere to BHSF policies regarding appropriate use of e\-mail and departmental requirements for minimum periodic review. Demonstrate proficient use of the laboratory information system and other applications as appropriate. Demonstrate proficiency in the area(s) for which initially hired and trained and based on departmental needs. Use careful technique in order to avoid wasting reagents, supplies. Assist in maintaining an appropriate inventory of supplies through notification of appropriate person. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of departmental performance improvement initiatives (QM programs) Provide orientation, training and competency assessment of employees and students. Adhere to all BHSF and departmental specific policies and procedures. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and/or takes responsibility to review minutes. Complete special assigned work, projects, or other duties as requested or instructed. **Qualifications:** ------------------- Requirements * Bachelor’s Degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Medical Technology or a related science. * Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist. * BLS Basic Life Support Certification * State of Florida TN Clinical Laboratory Technologist License * Employer requires pre\-employment physical, drug screen and background check (including a criminal background check).
