Blockchain Engineer - Backend Systems

Our client, a forward-thinking technology company building innovative decentralized solutions, is looking for a skilled Blockchain Engineer with expertise in backend systems. This role is crucial for developing robust and scalable blockchain infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and performance of their distributed applications. The position is based in Mississauga, Ontario, CA , and offers a hybrid work model. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for blockchain applications and platforms. Implement and integrate core blockchain protocols and technologies. Develop secure and efficient APIs for interaction between blockchain networks and other services. Work with smart contracts, ensuring seamless integration with backend infrastructure. Optimize blockchain network performance, scalability, and security. Conduct research and development on new blockchain technologies and potential applications. Collaborate with front-end developers and product managers to define system requirements and functionalities. Implement robust testing strategies for backend systems and blockchain integrations. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to blockchain infrastructure. Ensure the security and integrity of data stored and transmitted across the blockchain network. Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in blockchain technology and backend development. Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps. Document technical designs, system architecture, and code. Work with cloud infrastructure and deployment tools relevant to blockchain solutions. Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 4 years of experience in backend development, with at least 2 years specifically focused on blockchain technologies. Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in blockchain development (e.g., Go, Rust, Python, Node.js). Solid understanding of blockchain architectures, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic principles. Experience with developing and integrating with smart contracts. Familiarity with popular blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Cosmos). Experience with building scalable and secure RESTful APIs. Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and in-office work. Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies.
