We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pain Management Physician to join our team and help us establish and streamline our pain management service line. **Position Overview:** The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Pre\-Operative Clearance plays a critical role in ensuring patients are medically optimized and prepared for orthopedic surgical procedures. This provider conducts comprehensive pre\-operative evaluations, coordinates necessary testing and medical clearances, and collaborates closely with orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiology, and primary care providers to promote safe and efficient surgical outcomes. As clinic needs arise, the provider will also assist with walk\-in clinic coverage to support patient access and continuity of care. **Key Responsibilities:** *Pre\-Operative Evaluation \& Clearance* · Perform comprehensive pre\-operative medical assessments for orthopedic surgery candidates · Review medical history, medications, allergies, and prior surgical/anesthesia history · Conduct focused physical examinations relevant to surgical readiness · Assess perioperative risk and identify medical issues requiring optimization prior to surgery *Diagnostic Review \& Coordination* · Order, review, and interpret pre\-operative labs, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests per protocol · Identify abnormal findings and coordinate follow\-up or referrals as needed · Communicate with primary care providers, cardiology, pulmonology, or other specialists to obtain required medical clearances *Walk\-In Clinic Support* · Provide clinical coverage for orthopedic walk\-in patients as needed based on clinic volume and staffing · Evaluate and manage acute orthopedic complaints within scope of practice · Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies and initiate treatment plans · Collaborate with orthopedic physicians and advanced practice providers during walk\-in coverage *Care Coordination \& Communication* · Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and anesthesia teams regarding surgical readiness and risk stratification · Document clearance status and recommendations clearly in the electronic medical record · Educate patients on pre\-operative instructions, medication management, and expectations for surgery · Ensure timely completion of clearance requirements to avoid surgical delays or cancellations *Documentation \& Compliance* · Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation · Adhere to evidence\-based protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies · Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to surgical optimization and patient safety **Qualifications:** · Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience as an NP or PA preferred · Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced clinic environment. · DEA license and prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain) * Experience in managing 20\+ patients per day in a clinic setting. * Experience working with electronic medical records (Mod Med, Epic).
