Mechanical Design Engineer

In your role as a Mechanical Engineer at Girodisc, you will have access to all the tools you need to succeed. CAD modeling software, 3D rapid prototyping, scanning and measuring equipment and a brake dynamometer are all in use at our facility. All design, development and manufacturing is done in\-house. With our growing customer base expecting high quality technical solutions, you will help design new technologies as well as innovate and improve current products to lead the performance braking industry. Hands\-on skills are a must as you will collaborate directly with machinists, assemblers and customers. **What you'll be able to do:** In this key role, you will provide engineering with a wide range of skills and technical expertise. This includes: * All aspects of brake component design and development * Data and document management * Applying lean manufacturing principles, 5 whys and 6 sigma * Tooling and fixturing design * Develop new and innovative braking related tools and products * Contribute to process improvement initiatives with Manufacturing department **Qualifications:** **Minimum requirements we seek:** * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or equivalent * 5\+ years of industry experience in product development * 3D CAD, FEA expertise – (Solidworks/Fusion360/SimScale or equivalent) * Proficiency in creating mechanical drawings using GD\&T * Strong analytical, problem\-solving skills while staying highly organized * Excellent communication skills * Passion for motorsports is a must and a strong understanding of performance automotive mechanical systems **Our preferred requirements:** * Background in automotive braking systems or high\-performance aftermarket * Hands on brake related and performance automotive repair skills * Experience in Formula SAE is a big plus **What you will receive in return:** As part of the Girodisc Team, you’ll enjoy generous compensation benefits that include paid vacation, paid holidays, sick time, medical benefits, profit sharing as well as a company matching 401(k) plan.
