Medical Assistant Instructor duties include: ================================================ Teach in the Medical Assisting classroom with a maximum of 24 students, covering clinical and administrative skills. Class sessions are 4.5 hours in either day or evening sessions. Learning the material and delivering lectures and demonstrations, working from the Ross lesson plans and curriculum. This is a part-time position, typically 9-27 hours per week. Requirements ================ 3+ years’ experience in the medical assisting field and formal training from an accredited institution. Must be able to obtain a national certification as medical assistant. Individuals without a formal education, must have with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience working in the medical field and a national certification. Additional requirements or exceptions may be applicable based on the state, program, and accreditation requirements. Interest in teaching or prior experience Must be flexible and have a passion to learn and grow All Campus staff must have Sufficient ability to stand for extended periods of time, move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs and/or facilitate student participation. Faculty are responsible for providing high quality instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners so that each student may meet course outcomes and achieve their educational goals. An instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. Collaborate with the Dean and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool is not a guarantee of employment. Classes are assigned on an as-needed basis. Hours will vary each class and by term. The number of openings for instructors is dependent upon student enrollment. Duties \& Responsibilities Responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning in courses assigned. Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs. Maintain student records and provide documentation for in-completes within established College timelines. Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes. Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes. Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes. Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials,instructional media and other devices as appropriate. Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries. Assist students outside the classroom through posted office hours. Attend in-service sessions, college/school/department meetings, graduation and convocation as required. Performs other job related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Conferred associate degree or higher, in a related field AND At least two (2) years employment in the last three years in a healthcare facility performing, supervising, or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants, and Documented education or training such as completed workshops, in-service sessions, seminars, or completed college courses on instructional methodology. Topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curricular design, test construction, teaching methodology or assessment techniques (List and certificates and/or transcripts required) Preferences Conferred bachelor's degree or higher Current credential in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Current and competent in the MAERB core curriculum through education or experience Previous experience teaching online, hybrid, or web-enhanced courses. * Teaching experience at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.
