Job Summary and Qualifications The Coordinator is a professional member of the health care team who assumes advocacy and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to the patients via the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment, instrumentation and other health care team members. The Coordinator performs independently and seeks/support/direction as needed. The Coordinator performs specific job criteria/performance standards according to the applicable nursing unit, division,hospitaland professional standards. 1. The Service Line coordinator isdirectly responsiblefor the clinical management of a designated surgical specialty. 2. The Service line coordinator functions as an expert clinical practitioner, problem solver,educatorand management assistant in the Operating Room. 3. The Service line coordinator also functions as a liaison between the surgeon, OR staff, hospital, and OR managementfor their surgical specialty * Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. * Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. * Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. * Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. * Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care. Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
