About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic team. In this role, you will work closely with our providers to provide-high quality patient care and support the day to day operations of our practice. The Medical Assistant II is a high-functioning, independent MA who manages clinical workflows, supports procedural care, and serves as the primary support for one or more providers. This role is trusted to handle visit documentation, clinical triage, and patient navigation with limited supervision. Responsibilities: Perform all Medical Assistant duties with efficiency and independence, including but not limited to: Rooming of patients, and preparation of exam rooms Taking vitals and basic medical history Supporting referrals and prior authorizations Handle administrative tasks (faxing, scanning, phone follow ups) Educate patients on their orthopedic conditions, pre-operative and post-operative care and rehabilitation exercises. Mastery of casting, splinting, and basic wound care Ensure that x-ray images are properly ordered, labeled, and organized in patient records Support medication refills and prior authorizations, and communicate updates with physicians Triage clinical calls and messages using protocol-based guidance Dispense Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and provide patients instruction and support for fitting of DME Troubleshoot basic issues in clinic flow or documentation accuracy This role may require traveling between various clinics in Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica each week based on provider’s clinical schedule Greet patients and manage the check-in/check-out process with warmth and professionalism. Verify insurance, collect copays, and obtain prior authorizations as needed. Schedule and confirm patient appointments; manage phone calls, messages, and voicemails. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely documentation in the EHR. Assist with referrals, billing support, and general administrative workflows. Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and external offices. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards Qualifications: Completion of a formal medical assisting program and certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). 2-4 years of full-time MA experience in a medical clinic or procedural care environment Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff. Knowledge of medical office management practices, including billing, coding, and insurance procedures. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a positive attitude towards patient care. Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office, and maintaining patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations.
