Adena Health System is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. This NP or PA will work within a multi-disciplinary clinical setting with a focus on AOSI Express walk-in patients, orthopedic post op patients and inpatient rounding alongside our orthopedic surgeons. Interested candidates see an average of 30 patients daily. The ideal candidate will be excited to join a collaborative environment with direct access to physicians for review and evaluation, patient-centered NP or PA with a strong clinical foundation and a specialized interest in sports medicine. Experience in Orthopedics and/or Sports Medicine is preferred. Candidates with a strong passion for learning this specialty will also be considered. In addition, this person should thrive in a busy clinic setting and be willing to adapt and learn new skills, The selected candidate will have twelve weeks of shadowing and precepted work alongside Sports Medicine Non-Op, Orthopedic Surgeons, and Physician Assistants. He/she will enjoy robust platforms for communications, keeping providers well informed and engaged. The Cardiac Device Specialist provides professional nursing care through the application of necessary skills and processes to assigned patents. He or she works with patients who have pacemakers or defibrillators. Educates patients on their devices, and the process or procedures involved in their EP specific care plan. Conducts device interrogations independently. This individual provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other members of the care team to achieve optimal delivery of care. This individual provides services at multiple sites as needed. The incumbent has access to confidential patient infusion and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with physicians. The individual works under the direct supervision of the clinical team leader and the clinic manager. Required Educational Degree: Associate’s Degree Major/Area of Concentration: Nursing/ Healthcare/Science Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: RN - Registered Nurse with Current Ohio License. Preferred Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Required Experience: 3-5 years’ experience conducting device interrogations Job Specific Essential Functions Performs inpatient and outpatient pacemaker and implantable defibrillator (ICD) evaluations. This involves interviewing the patient concerning medications and cardiac symptoms related to device function; evaluating device function by determining capture and sensing thresholds; supplying the patient with educational information and instructions concerning the device’s expected behavior; completing follow-up evaluations; and scheduling diagnostic procedures and physician referrals at the direction of the supervising physician. Coordinates trans telephonic device remote monitoring. This entails instructing the patient on transmitter use; contacting the patient by phone to receive the transmission during the designated month; review of the transmission data for appropriate device function; and submission of the report to the supervising physician for review. Coordinates inpatient and outpatient device evaluation / consults. This entails obtaining referring physician information; patient device history; description of reason for referral; and determination of the acuity of the consultation. Updates device clinic computer database. This involves entry of patient and device system information including implant data, device ERT parameters, and generator / lead recalls and alerts. Primary contact person for patient calls / questions related to their device. Appropriate triage of patients in consultation with the supervising physician. Development and distribution of device-related educational materials for patients and their families during the pre and post-operative phases of device implantation. Works with the manufacturer to assure devices/implants being replaced due to a recall, defect, or mechanical complication is being provided to Adena at no cost and there is no subsequent charge to the patient/patient’s insurance. This position has patient contact, has access to confidential information and functions under the direct supervision of a Director. Ensure all provider encounters are captured, documented, locked in a timely manner and coded for comprehensive revenue cycle process. Responsible for completion of cash posting, financial deposits, A/R tracking and improvement toward MGMA service specific days in A/R and reporting of variances Act as liaison for providers to answer questions, communicate concerns to system, and solve day to day issues. Holds clinic team accountable for adherence to leadership and provider compact expectations of communication / behavior in delivery of care for optimal service to patients.
