We are looking for a Medical Assistant who can work part-time or full time at the front desk and the nurse station in Family Medicine \& Internal Medicine Physician’s office. Responsibilities and Duties include but not limited to: - Provide medical administrative support to physicians and mid-level providers and perform general office duties - Greet and assist patients with check-in and check-out procedure with a professional demeanor. - Answer phone calls and scheduling appointments - Room patients, take vitals, enter history, give injection, do EKG and other tests. - Clean exam rooms and equipment based on practice protocol. - Accurately document and maintain complete patient medical information in the medical record while confirming that all necessary data/charts is in place before the patient/provider encounter. - Assist with requests for test results, pre-authorization, medication refills and post-op visits, etc. - Perform patient education at end of each visit and/or telephonically as needed. - Receive, organize, and maintain secure storage of medicine samples provided by pharmaceutical representatives. Check sample medications for expiration dates and maintain dispensing records. Identify, order and stocks clinical supplies with leading nurse's approval - Call patients to follow up payments. QUALIFICATION: EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited CMA program. CERTIFICATION: Certified Medical assistant is preferred EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one-year experience as a certified Medical Assistant in clinic setting. This does not include the time spent in clinical training or rotation. Friendly, reliable, honest, hard-working, detailed-oriented, having an excellent initiative and able to follow through issues. Knowledge in drugs and experience with family medicine or internal medicine, EMR and injections are a big plus. Local candidates only. Must be able to work on one to two Saturday mornings every month. This is NOT a position for a pre-med student looking for a short-term employment. The main focus of the position is on providing superior outpatient rehabilitation services through a collaborative care model with our physicians in order to optimize performance and enhance the quality of function for our patients. Responsibilities Exceptional patient care Interprets physician orders, performs initial evaluations and establishes treatment plans and functional goals Responsible for upgrading and amending the treatment goals as necessary during the episode of care Written documentation on patient status to physicians per compliance guidelines of IBJI rehab Determine appropriate discharge timeline and appropriate follow up Supervision of Rehabilitation Technicians with patient care and administrative staff as needed Compliance with daily paperwork. PT/PTAs/ATCs are responsible for documenting all treatment in patient charts in a timely manner (initial evals, daily notes, progress notes, discharges, HEP) Stays current with billing policies and demonstrates ethical billing practices Maintains active state license by earning appropriate CEUs through outside courses and IBJI sponsored educational opportunities Develops positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI Takes an active role in the patient medial team: office visits with physicians, contact with case managers, etc. Participates in programs sponsored by IBJI: Mentoring, clinical educator, special interest group, community outreach Requirements: Graduate from accredited Physical Therapy Program Licensed or eligible to sit for boards in the state of Illinois Ability to work in a fast paced environment Professional and effective writing and verbal communication skills Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes * Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
