Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) Responsibilities \& Duties Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' hand and upper extremity function. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on initial assessments and ongoing evaluations. Utilize therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities to improve range of motion, strength, and functionality. Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and post-treatment care. Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Fabricate and fit custom orthotics and splints to support healing and functional improvement. Conduct pre-surgical education and postoperative rehabilitation for patients undergoing hand surgery. Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain certification and stay current with industry advancements. Provide mentorship and training to other therapists and healthcare students in the field of hand therapy. Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) Qualifications \& Skills Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) designation. Minimum of 2 years of experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Proficiency in fabricating custom orthotics and splints. Strong knowledge of current therapeutic techniques and modalities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Membership in professional organizations such as the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT). Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current state licensure in Occupational Therapy. Completion of advanced coursework in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics related to the hand and upper extremity. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). Proven clinical experience in hand and upper extremity therapy. CPR and First Aid certification. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. * Strong organizational and time management abilities.
